Is there anything that contributes to some of the teachers out there getting big heads, like awards, age, tenure? Also why are the biggest assholes always teaching English?

They’re mostly under paid, over worked (who isn’t?) and have to deal with disrespectful little frick trophies and their dumbass parents 50% of the time, the other 50% is devoted to navigating retarded administration.

There’s a level of crazy you have to cross to do this. It’s no different than committing any comparable crime. Sure, maybe the middle aged woman is flattered that the HS qb is giving her attention. Turning that into a sexual relationship is such a huge step from that, though. The level of crazy is only magnified when it’s with a kid that is in middle school.

Have to deal with students and parents? Yes. That’s the job. Learn to navigate this part of your job.
Dealing with administration? Wtf. This is the worst part of the job. Admins are teachers turned managers of people with a minimum 3 years classroom experience. Based on my experience, two qualifications: they don’t think and they are effin stupid.
One more thing, many teachers and administrators of all ages act as if they are still in high school, meaning they never graduated high school. That’s why there are many inappropriate relationships with students. Too many blurred boundaries.

I think there's a bit of a few things (to varying degrees).
1. Misplaced father-figure fixation
2. Testing the waters of how impactful their flirting has become now that they are entering young adulthood.
3. Not understanding that there's a different between the romantic idea of something and the reality of it.
4. Feeding their self-esteem through flirting then getting too caught up in it.

I think it's probably a little different for the female teachers. I wouldn't be shocked to find they all had some combination of:
1. Shitty (or just declining) relationship at home
2. Had never been in a position of authority
3. Were incredibly straight-laced growing up and through college
4. Their biological clock starts kicking in
5. Attempting to re-live a bit of their own high school days
Just like with male teachers who make this mistake, their jobs put them in the worst position for them to succumb to whatever is driving their desire for some "young thang".
