The reader can be anywhere on the machine with no clear indication on where to tap.
Most have the contactless payment symbol where you should tap your card.

I dont tap it, I hold it on the reader and it works every time.

Only card I have problems with is my gold AmEx.

I’ve only seen one occasion where the tap function didn’t work for a purchase, and I use it for well over 90% of my purchases. On that one occasion, the lack of the tap function working was the problem of the business, not my card.

Love watching boomers try to tap the cord or the complete opposite side of the POS where it clearly says "TAP HERE"

My Gold Amex, which is a metal card, is the only one I have that consistently never works when I try to tap it. Always gotta insert it instead.
Odd. My metal Sapphire Reserve is my most consistent card when it comes to the NFC chip being read.

HEB's proprietary card readers don't have tap functionality and I get a bad chip read error every time I go to the grocery store.
All card readers are required to have NFC/tap functionality, but the requirement doesn't require them to actually have them active. Walmart for example will not activate their tap features on their readers. The reason is NFC tap is much more secure and private with your information. Walmart does not get valuable data tracking. HEB may be doing something similar. This is why tap is hidden or not active occasionally, but every card reader is required to have the ability to do it.

You’re supposed to tap it w your dick and balls first.
Then you tap the credit card. It’ll then work.
This is all basic cock calculus.

It's a tap and hold motion, not quick tap. Try that.

Someone tapping a card is a good way to identify a work from home soy boy.
Wow, you sound really and I mean really, stupid.

I’ve found the tap works about 1/3 of the time or less.
I don’t know if I’ve ever not been able to get the tap functionality to work, with multiple cards. So idk, maybe you have a bad card or maybe you’re just not doing it right.

You don’t “tap” it despite what it says. You put the little symbol directly on top of the symbol shown on the card reader and hold it there until it processes. Sometimes it takes a few seconds but still seems to be way faster (and way more reliable) than chip readers.

My system has 2 beeps. If people pull the card away after the first beep it does not go through.
The first beep to to let you know the reader has detected the card, the second is after approval (or denial) has been received.
I tell people to leave it touching until the second beep and it works every time.
