I have a skin sensation that feels exactly like a piece of duct tape is on my back. It comes and goes, but lately it’s almost daily.
I discussed it with my doctor last month and he gave me the “George from Seinfeld” treatment, saying he never herd of it. Said I should go see a neurologist.
Google search has nothing. Anybody have or had this?

If you touch the area, is it numb or anything like that?

Just back up to a door frame and give it a good scratch.
That should do it.

I’ve had that sensation on the back of my neck a couple of times. Always wondered what caused it

Go to Walgreens or CVS and buy a bottle of Lysine (an amino acid) and take them 3 times a day, 4 at a time = 12/day. Should stop the skin rash from getting bad and make it go away in a few days. The lysine will block the reproduction of the Herpes virus that is causing your itchy rash problem.

Better than having what feels like a knife stabbing your heart.

It’s not shingles, does not hurt or itch and is not inflamed. Just feels weird and instead of a episode or two per week, it’s now every day. Not all day, comes and goes.

I had a good friend that had this exact same thing.
He died before they could figure it out.

Describe the sensation more.
‘Feels like duct tape on your back’ could mean different things.

It will probably sooner or later erupt in a full blown rash. Then the docs will "believe" you and you can get treated. Virus (probably), or an allergy. Might want to take notes of what you eat or are exposed to for a while.

What is notalgia paresthetica?
Notalgia paresthetica (NP) is a nerve disorder that causes an intense and sometimes painful itching in your back. It mainly affects the area between the shoulder blades, but the itch can spread to your shoulders and chest.
The name of this disorder comes from the Greek words “notos” (“back”) and “algia” (“pain”).
What are the symptoms?
NP causes an itch just below your left shoulder blade. The itching can range from mild to so severe that it makes you want to rub your back against a post or wall. Scratching might feel good, but it won’t always relieve the itch.
Some people feel the itching on the right side or both sides of their back, under their shoulder blade. The itch can spread to your shoulders and chest.
Along with itching, NP can sometimes cause these symptoms in the upper back:
pain
tingling, numbness, and burning sensations
pins-and-needles feeling
increased sensitivity to heat, cold, touch, vibrations, and pain
