Sorry not meaning to hijack thread.
Definitely picked up by tow service. Police do not have own lot so all vehicles are sent to tow yards.
FYI there are multiple registries, and for the life of me I haven't the faintest idea why a VIN number isn't just a VIN number and searchable across all registries. Seems to me that is the basis for having a VIN is that it is a globally tracked number.
I have no beef with a tow company working in this capacity and earning a living that way. Shady behavior is the tow lot had my motorcycle for over a year before contacting me. Only time I was contacted was when they filed for title. State of Louisiana said for them to find me. I understand burocracy but it does not take a year and a half for this to happen. Most angering part is that the state police never contacted me when the motorcycle was recovered. Apparently the "guy" said it was his buddies bike and the trail went cold from there.

Ok folks, I'm going to hold off on a summary. Most of what I believed is wrong.
This just took a HUGE left turn and has become 100 times more entertaining.
It may be a few days before I have more info but I assure you, it'll be worth it.

This site truly is an amazing place with some amazing people
Tl/Dr: boards awesome. Most posters rock. Salute to you, Chicken. frick Auburn.
Seen it, time and time again. Be it, helping others, or solving crimes, this site seems to do it all. It’s why I stayed (after joining, planning to only read ASTPB) and will continue to support this site for as long as it’s here and God willing. For as much garbage that is posted on this site, each day, there is someone doing/saying something that is helping another, anonymous, human being. This day’s? That’s incredible. This is not a huge community. That makes even more impressive.
Also, I have no link, at all, to LSU, nor the SEC, besides fandom. Only a kid influenced by a grandfather who thought Bear Bryant was as good, if not a better, leader of men then any authority figure in history.
“You want be respected, Champ? Study Mr. Bryant and study the way his teams go to battle every Saturday. Watch his teams practice, watch his teams play, listen to his players speak of him.
Give your all, even after “your all” is gone, find more. Do that, in every aspect of life, and you’ll end up, forever living, in a advantageous position in life.”
This is his “famous” quote (as complete and accurate as I/my two brothers can remember it) to my 2 brother and I, from the time we could comprehend, until he passed away in the late 90s.
I only point that out because I was born and raised in Upstate, NY. A town called Lake George. I was born in (“Hometown USA”) Glens Falls and lives there a few years as well. Ya see, college football (let alone high school football) has such low interest, you just don’t here about it, at all. I moved to Nashville at 17 (parents relocated for work) and the cultural shock was something else. I loved it! Especially, of course, the crazy football side of the SEC. p
Personally, when I sit back and think, it’s wild to me that the social media medium, I mostly monitor, is one that I am definitely in the 1% minority. I don’t think there are many folks here, that stick around, that are for the NE. I’m not counting the folks that got out of LA. I try to tell people about this site. shite, this site is worth having just for the breaking news part! News if here, much of the time, before the MSM even get a sniff!
Salute to you, Chicken. Great site! Salute to all of you that make this coward that only message board I’ve ever posted on.
frick you, Auburn! And thanks for being Auburn and bringing me onboard, via your university lack of intelligence.

When I was younger my uncle was trying to teach me to play golf. I sucked, still do. On the golf course I was hitting balls all over the place, cussing and screaming. Then on the 16th hole par 3, I hit this beautiful shot that landed on the green. He looked at me and said, "and that's why you'll be back next week."
Well, this thread is why we come to the OT everyday.
Spot On!

No, it’s not common practice to check if a vehicle is stolen when it gets brought in for service/repair. That doesn’t matter in this case. The shop is fricked out of the money. It’s part of the business. They need to be suing the thief that dropped it off for the money they feel that are owed. The scumbags are, most likely, kicking their own asses, as I type this, knowing that thI y could have had half the repair bill paid had they acted morally and ethically. They did not. This will not turn out well, in any way for this shop.

Can you set up a time that you're going to post so I can be here and ready to go?

Didn’t the OP state, earlier in thread, that he didn’t want the bike but wanted the shop to be forced into doing the right thing? He even, if I’m not mistaken, said if someone were willing to go get it, they could have it. I don’t take E as that kinda guy, but I think that was what was said. If not, hopefully E gets his money back and a reward.

When you are ready to post it, bump this thread to update so we don’t have to go back to search for it.

If true, would that be against the person who brought the bike into the shop?
Exactly.

I’m done. This guy knows his shot. This is over. I won’t be surprised for the shot being thrown at said “shop” either.

OP was never truly the owner of the bike
And had the other guy steal it for him

Sounds to me like the bike is good shape and their was VERY little done to said bike. Owner didn’t know that. They racked a nice bill that is fraudulent. Hmm...

I’m a man of my word. The bike is his. He deserves it and was able to make it happen when I couldn’t.
