If there was a functioning Time Machine, first thing I would do is convince the founding fathers to ban slavery.

Agree 100%, but the reason they couldn't do it was because the slave states wouldn't have joined the new government. In fact at that time, some of the non-slave states probably wouldn't have joined claiming it wasn't the right of the federal government to decide. You know the big Federalist vs. Anti-Federalist thing.

Not enough people realize the irony behind the this guy.
Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac.
He's often attributed with the distinction of introducing to Bienville and Iberville the concept of importing African Slaves to cultivate fertile lands in the Ms Delta and Gulf Coast.

Promote Benedict Arnold to General of the Northern Continental Army, and repay him the money he spent training, arming and supplying the force that defeated the British at Quebec, Ticonderoga and Saratoga.

Which in turn showed the French that we had the ability to defeat the British and they began to fund and use their navy to break the British blockade.

Without the efforts of "The Greatest Traitor in American History" we could very well still be a British colony or possession.

The man gave his fortune, his leg and the best years of his life to a cause that gave him only contempt in return.

The French Revolution getting as messy as it did the breakdown of cultural institutions, the violence the committees and how the communist mimicked that learned from that in so many ways as did the Nazis

the template dispayed by the more extreme parts of the French Revolutionaries has caused so much damage in the Western world it's really incalculable

Even some of the abuses by the Catholic Church were enhanced or strengthened by the political dealings that they made with Napoleon when he reinstated the church but made it so overtly political lacking all the spirituality that was something else that allowed some of the abuses in the Catholic Church to continue on through generations I'm not saying it's bad about the Catholic Church i'm saying they made their political deals and we're still confronting the eventualities of that

Even the Napoleonic code as a structure of laws has proven to be less than English common law here in America that's why in part Louisiana is so fricked up

One could even argue it goes back to Lou the 14th and how Churchill saved the Western world by the same thing recognizing the need to protect democracy freedom of religion freedom of speech one could say that the first Lord Chilchill saved the world as much of its anybody
