Fact: roadside breathalyzers are trashed in court.
If they were in any way accurate, there would be no need to test blood or another breathalyzer at the station.
It's a fabricated reason to get you to their end goal.
You might as well blow, as you're going for a ride no matter what. The police have already made their mind up at that point.

If I was sober, I would do the breathalyzer or even blood draw before the roadside field test. The cop already has you out of the car because he thinks you are impaired so why put your fate in a series of subjective tests? Do I have any conditions that would prevent me from standing on one leg and reciting the alphabet backwards? I don’t think I’m medically qualified to answer that question accurately and completely.

Had a friend one time that got pulled over (he had never taken a drink in his life at that point) and he failed the field sobriety test.
His right knee had been operated on twice for a torn ACL and he couldn’t stand on it alone.
Cops arrested him didn’t believe him and took him to the station for a breathalyzer. Kept asking the rest of us what he was drinking or drugs he was taking. Kept us at the jail until 5 AM before they let us go. He actually took his medical records and showed them later on.

Never, never, never do the FSTs including the eye nystagmus test. If it gets to the point where the cop wants to do them he/she has already made up their mind and they are simply gathering evidence.
As far as blowing, no unless you really did only have one beer or less.

I generally agree with this, but I will say I was a passenger once and the drunk driver I was with was pulled over by BRPD on LSUs campus, and after the FST she was let go. Still amazing to me.

Can confirm. Passed one FST (eye test) after a 12 pk. Cop even called supervisor to the scene, so I actually passed two. To this day I’m still perplexed, but thankful. Lesson learned though. Thankfully no breathalyzer was initiated. One of life’s unexplainable moments for sure.

I would probably give a cop enough reason to fail me on an alphabet backwards test completely sober. Outside of handful of letters at beginning and at the end It’s not something I ever say in reverse order all at once from Z all the way to A. Only time I even think about it is when there are DWI posts on OT.
