If there is nothing wrong with her knee, it's a waste of money. If there is something wrong with her knee, it's not a waste of money.
The way to find out if either of these is true is to get an x-ray.

In my experience, urgent care docs charge you through the nose for a bunch of shite you don’t need. Are you all claiming this doesn’t happen in healthcare? And that every treatment option recommended should be accepted without a second thought? That’s part of the reason our system is so ludicrously expensive.
I’m just asking if this is one of those situations or not. It seems fairly impossible that a bone was broken, and she’s not in an unbearable amount of pain.

It’s probably not a doctor it’s probably a fancy nurse if you’re at an urgent care

I bet she did a little worse than that. I would get an XR only because it is usually required before an MRI. XR more than likely will be normal.
Did they give her an immobilizer? She needs one of those.
ACL and MCL injuries are common together.

The xrays are practically useless. Let the swelling go down and if it's still bothering her see a doctor and get an MRI. That's where this is headed anyway

If you can afford skiing in this economy, you can afford an x-ray.
My first thought as well.

Pop and pain on inside of knee is likely ACL. Get it X-rayed anyway.

I'm a physical therapist. X-rays will not show soft tissue damage. But will rule out a fracture. There are manual tests to check the integrity of ligaments. If the PA or doc has orthopedic experience it is simple to do.

Edit: of the knee of course.

You’re at an urgent care near a ski resort. They’ve seen this before.
Do as they say and get with a specialist when you get back home if advised.
