I am with you baw. If only they could come up with a system where they wrote the names of the weeks, with holidays down in a box grid or something.
They could add the date in each individual box too. That would be awesome.
You may be onto something here.

Except when he was hitting the seafood buffet.
But just on Fridays. According to catholics he ate like a king every other day that he was out there.
Catholics crack me the frick up, and I grew up in a catholic family/school. Y'all pick and choose out of convenience more than any other group I've ever heard of.

Sundays don't count because it's supposed to be a day of celebration of Christ's victory over death. So it's 40 days not counting Sundays.

I think this is so interesting. I didn't know that's how it worked for the longest time.

Good Friday this year falls on March 25, which should be the Feast of the Annunciation, no Lenten rules.
But when the feast falls during Holy Week, they moved the Feast to the Monday after Easter. I wish they would have moved it up a week.

Technically, Sundays are not part of Lent. Although we celebrate them liturgically as part of Lent, the Lord's Day cannot be a day of fast and abstinence. Six weeks of Monday through Saturday gives you 36 days. If you add to them Ash Wednesday and the three days after it, you get the 40 days of Lent.
This is also the understanding of Western non-Roman Catholics, though Eastern non-Roman Catholics handle things differently.

I thought it was from ash Wednesday through holy Thursday
I remember reading or hearing this somewhere. But I think it was said that Good Friday, Holy Saturday (and maybe Holy Thursday) while not part of Lent, had some other name - the tridium or some such thing. Certainly the "no meat" fast is supposed to apply on Good Friday. (Thus, the seafood extravaganzas).

40 days between Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Depends on how long real Jesus wants it to last

Feels good to be a Baptist where we don't have to worry about what we can and can't eat. Mainly because God doesn't care about what we give up or if we even do give something up.

40 days not including Sundays.

I would rather not eat meat on Friday so I can get drunk everyday.
