One day I’ll look into the history of why rosé (skin contact red) became so popular while orange (skin contact white) basically didn’t exist, at least in the US. If you happen to know the answer, by all means

Orange wine as we know it probably originated in Georgia and spread to Slovenia and Northern Italy. It was popular in Italy until mid 20th when it basically disappeared everywhere outside of Georgia and Slovenia. People wanted to drink clear, crisp whites. There was no market or knowledge of it.

It’s come back because somms in Europe started getting their hands on it and winemakers loved it so they started producing small batches and it’s just taken off.

Rosè has been around since forever too. I had to look it up, but after WW2 two Portuguese producers introduced them in sparkling form to the American market and they sold well. It was long popular in Europe we just didn’t know about it.

Then you have the whole blush and white Zin phenom of the 70s and 80s.

That's a place to live. But couldn't he pay someone to take care of the property?

Joe made his money, he didn't inherit it. (Inherited millionaires are the worst)

He's been very smart w/ his investments.

As a practical matter, he has FU money.

Beautiful.

What do you reckon property taxes are on it, $350,000?

would have thought that would be more than $28 million

I think when you start getting into properties like that the sale price tag gets diminished due to the upkeep costs

The landscaping costs alone for that property are 6 figures I bet

It's like buying a Lear.

Someone could give you a Lear, and you'd go broke on the maintenance costs.

thought the same thing . My guess is that all those 500 acres are locked up in a land trust and cannot be planted nor developed. It’ll be raw land forever.

That's a good thing. For that kind of money I don't want a subdivision next door.

His wife was a smoke show in her younger days.

Joe was my most favorite player when I was a kid.

He's getting out before California passes a law that if you leave you have to pay them taxes for the next 20 years. Or something crazy like that.
