About to buy my first rolex. Already have an omega. Do you have to buy separate insurance policies for watches? Or are they covered under your homeowner's/renter's policy?

You can add it to your homeowner's policy, I believe.

I'll let you have one for tree fiddy.

quote:Nope, call your agent and take out additional coverage for jewelry, list the each individual piece and I'd take a pic for record keeping.

You should buy an apple watch and ask Siri

to each his own.... I would never dump that much money into a fricking watch.
Although you think it will, wearing expensive things still doesn't make up for that deep seated feeling of inadequacy, and worthlessness.
Those feelings of inferiority are made more visible by your attempts to cover up.

Expensive watches are 100% status symbols and perform 0 function a phone doesn't do more effectively.
At least my status symbol car drives like the ultimate driving machine...
Never understood the watch thing

If you are going to waste money on a watch, get a Breitling.

Jewelers Mutual is the way to go for any decent-sized collection if you only have one or two mid-range watches then also get a quote from you homeowners carrier.

Think of it as nice clothing now. It used to have a function, but unless your phone dies the function is just redundant.

So if you roll it into your homeowners it's an extra rider? Does it cover if it gets stolen let's say if I leave it in my car?

I prefer the Rolex Bao Dai.

That is a lot of mental gymnastics just to justify the fact you don't care about watches. I "feel" no different nor do I think any more or less about myself when I am wearing a $500 watch or a $70k watch. Some people wear them for peacockery and some simply like watches.
RE the Rolex it is likely to never lose its value and likely to appreciate. My collection over the years has done much better than the Dow.

Mechanical watches are a blend of engineering, craftsmanship, design, and art.
They are a personal item that you can use every single day. If you buy right (used or new depending on brand) and the right brand (Rolex steel, AP Royal Oak, Panerai, Patek, some Omegas, etc.), you get your $ back out of it and sometimes a little appreciation if it is years down the line.
You can also use them every single day and, if taken care of, hand them down to your children.
There aren't many other things that fit that bill.
I'm a big fan.

Yes, it is a specific rider otherwise the policy will pay very little. You will need to check the specific language of the rider but in general, they do cover outside the home but I have seen some with specific and relatively restrictive language. Jewelers Mutual is very lenient with small collections and one of the best to deal with regarding watch claims so at least get a quote from them before going with your HO company.
What ref # are you getting?
