I’ve watched that movie a number of times and it’s glaring to me how inept they made Demi Moore’s character look. Strenuously objecting, forgetting to ask the retard if he was present when the code red order was given, speaking out of turn at the lunch in Guantanamo. She looked like a damn incompetent dolt.

No, but he still made millions working a side hustle in typewriter maintenance at the Rocco Globbo school for Women, while banging galactically stupid women who worship him.

Tbh i think this film did a near-perfect job balancing the ‘hard truths’ as you call them , on the side of the corrupt Jessup- with the equally hard truths on the other side of the issues that led to the death of a young Marine, and even worse- the cover up .. are you suggesting that the truths are only on one side ?

One of the best lines in the movie

quote:
Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know; that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, *saves lives*. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a *damn* what you think you are entitled to!

I just think she was badly cast.. i cant explain it, ive just always thought she wasn’t very good.. what im saying is i just think there are many actresses who could have done a better job with that role.. im guessing she was cast b/c she was the biggest female star in the world at that time .
And yeah, ive seen it way too many times, and it’s one of the movies no one should ever watch with me b/c i know every word of dialogue by heart and it’s hard for me not to talk along with it .

Wasn’t that the entire point of her character? I’m confused why this is even in question?

No because later, she made a salient point during the trial that somehow redeemed her for her past dumbassness.

She wasn’t entirely incompetent .. She did get authorization from Aunt Jenny .. Hey, maybe we can have the trial in her barn.. I’ll sew the costumes, Uncle Goober can be the judge .

Commander Gallaway, why don't get yourself a cup of coffee?
Thank you, Sir. I'm fine.
Commander, I would like you to leave the room so we can talk about you behind your back.
I always got a chuckle at this exchange.

My only issue with A Few Good Men is how much of a retard and pathetic they made Downey especially during/ after the ruling.
It still a great watch no matter how many times you've seen the movie.

"Nobody likes her very much" might honestly be my favorite line in the entire movie

This movie is great for entertainment and classic performances by Cruise and Nicholson, but it is crap as far as the military aspect. I wonder if he even talked to a military advisor before writing the play.
A law student would get more out of My Cousin Vinny than this movie.

Legal Eagle on YouTube covers both of these. Very entertaining.
Also, the director of My Cousin Vinny got his law degree from Cambridge; that's why My Cousin Vinny is actually a good example of trial law. A Few Good Men is definitely held in the opposite light.
