It's a personal day. Like business.
So your issue is with what it’s being labeled? (Semantics)

I don't get the problem with this. Students will abuse it, no doubt. But they'd only be hurting themselves.
Agreed. I took plenty of “rain days” at LSU, but knew I still had to take care of business

If they would have just called this PTO no one would bat an eye.

Why would it be called paid time off?

Personal, not paid.

Outside of China that literally works their people to death, the US falls behind on days away from work.

We're going to pretend that's what PTO means?
90% of the time it means paid.
Mental health days and personal days are synonymous nowadays. There's no reason for so many here to melt over this, so I agree with you there.

I accumulate about 7 hours PTO every two weeks. Guys who have been here for 10 years or so get 14.

Yeah I know a family from Manchester who takes their month long holiday every year. They travel all over. It's nuts.

It sure as hell is these days with the amount of bullshite the kids have to deal with.
Tell me what’s so difficult about high school and what’s all the bullshite kids have to deal with?

I just hit 5 years at my place of employment. I get 14 days now. Another 5 years, I’ll have 21 and that’s where it’ll stay until I’m out.
But, we dont get sick days. We don’t get personal days. We do get what we call “W” days. As long as there’s an extra man on shift and the job is covered, you can take the day off. You just won’t get paid. You can take as many of those as you want. Keep in mind, everyone is hourly. Add that to the full 7 days straight a month we’re scheduled off, I guess in the end....I don’t have much to stand on regarding days off.

You’ve probably forgotten what it’s like to be a teenager in high school. Everyone changes. Everyone matures. What you believe now is more than likely not what you felt back then.

Damn I have 15 off the bat and I'll have 20 at my 5 years. Plus 5 or 6 sick days and 2 personal days. No one keeps track of those though as long as you don't abuse it.

Which is weird because he's like 19.

I have two years and have about three weeks to use right now, and I just took off a week

Pretty profound for a McNeese guy. All going well for you guys?

Ah, yes. The work ourselves to death for a pension that may not even be there when we retire.
Brilliant way to live.

Depends. Our HR differentiates between PTO and sick leave. It's called Personal Time Off.
