Yep, no kidding. It was an O-T joke.
I'd drive a Ridgeline if it was what I needed and never look back. Honda engines last damn near indefinitely if you maintain them.

quote:No kidding. I had a Sport Trac for years, then Ford quit making them and I saw the Santa Cruz was coming and thought that might work. Went and looked at one, and said Nope. Small, overpriced and terrible mileage. Bed is so small you can’t put hardly anything in it
Then the Hyundai Santa Cruz came along - So you could make a worst decision.

I'm in the 2% that needs space, power, and a truck that doesn't scream "Biden/Harris 2020"

Solid vehicle. Ignore the haters who derive their manhood from driving a big truck they don't need.

Seems like a good vehicle. The 2021 facelift + HPD package with the bronze rims doesn’t look bad at all. I opted for the Santa Cruz and really like it so far. Both Maverick and Santa Cruz I’ve heard are hard to get right now, especially at MSRP.

It's the same setup as the Maverick but just in the wrong segment.
The mid size traditionals (Ranger, Tacoma, Frontier, GM Twins) follow the generally accepted tradition in this segment.
Ridgeline comes in the same segment and can be just as expensive or more--for what's viewed as "less of a truck."
The Maverick (and, much less significantly, the Hyundai) are establishing an entirely new segment and price range so they get a bit of a pass. I'd prefer the Maverick (20k with steelies, 6 speed, and normally aspirated 4 banger, no hyybrid) If I could draw it up over the Ridgeline any day.
As it stands I don't want the hybrid, but once you hit 30k with the Maverick then these other mid size trucks come into play. But I do like what Ford is doing here.

Owned one for a few years and with the bed extender could haul up to 12 foot lumber. 4x8 sheets of ply and drywall lay flat in the bed too. Great reliable truck.
Had to sell and buy a big boy truck for trailering purposes.

I own a 2018 RTL-E purchased in September, 2017.
Pros: Rides like a car, handles like a car (compared to most trucks), has all the safety features and all wheel drive. I've hauled firewood, pulled a party barge (short distance), and pulled a trailer with stuff that won't fit in the bed. I haven't had any problems with it other than a rear door locking mechanism that had to be replaced. Most of my driving is highway driving and it is a pleasure to drive. It is the quietest ride I've ever owned due to its noise canceling feature. The bed speaker (actuator) is handy as is the trunk. The all wheel drive has eliminated spin outs that I used to have in my Frontier on rainy days when moving forward from a stop on pavement. I've driven in mud with no problem, but it wasn't deep and I didn't have to deal with ruts. The interior bed width and lack of meaningful wheel humps makes hauling some things much easier (like 4'x8' sheets of plywood and metal plate).
Cons: Ground clearance is a little low for my liking, but I rarely go off road. I wish it got better gas mileage but it's better than than what I had before. A higher towing capacity and more power would make be feel better about towing that party barge, but I didn't really buy it for that and my wifes SUV has a V8 for that task. The back seat split is backwards IMO, the short side should be on the driver's side. The Android Auto integration integration is a little iffy as it is very picky about cable quality and doesn't always connect without requiring a disconnect and reconnect of the phone.
It's kinda ugly, but I couldn't care much less about that. I'm too old to give a shite about what other people think about what I drive.

All I know is that this thread shows once again, we need a car/truck board!
