How so? Only thing that comes to mind for me is the hemi having dual spark plugs per cylinder. Still a minuscule cost. Otherwise, it’s no more thirsty than a GM V8, uses at most a quart or two more oil, everything else is standard for the segment.

I'm a Ford guy typically, but my company truck is the 2017 Laramie. Really changed my opinion of Ram (or Dodge, whatever). I'm thinking my next personal may end up being a 2500. It's a really nice truck

I had a 2010 ram 5.7L that went swimming last year. I loved that truck. Gas mileage wasnt great i think I would get around 16 city and around 20 on long trips.

I replaced it with a 2016 Ram 5.7L. I get around 19 city and 22 on trips. Its the smaller 4 door so it may be the weight that gives the better mileage.

I will probably buy another in 10 years. I havent had any issues with either, but they were not my daily driver. My company car was a dodge charger and I would not recommend the chargers they were a maintenance nightmare.

TLDR: Ram truck good, dodge Charger bad.

It uses gas, but it's by no means Tundra thirsty.

My Tundra is thirsty but actually less so than the 1999 V6 F150 I owned. That was a gas slurper but with zero performance.

I had an '03 Ram 1500 (first year with the Hemi) for 11 years with 0 problems that weren't directly caused by me being a jackass.

Picked up a '14 1500 Limited and other than a taillight replacement, covered recall stuff and one warrantied issue with a sensor for the air suspension have had no problems. Love it (currently ~38k miles on it)

The only acceptable truck for an OT baller is a Sierra Denali or King Ranch.

I've got a 14 longhorn edition, which is Ram version of KR. i actually like it a lot and have had zero problems out of it. very nice truck to me. 60k miles, and i bet a third of that is pulling a trailer

I drive a 2011. Bought it used in 2015 with 75k on it. Has 140k on it now. I've had a wheel sensor go out, but other than that, no real issues.

Whatever you do, do not get one of the new ones with a V6 engine. I have a work truck that has that in it...the truck may as well be a car. No power whatsoever, and it gets blown around in a stiff wind like its nothing.

Looking at getting a Ram 1500 2015 or 2016 model. Anybody drive one? Any opinions? TIA

Rented one a while back with the Hemi engine. Loved the power train, but the fairly basic model I drove had a cheap feeling interior. It otherwise drove very smooth, featured comfortable seats, and had no trouble accelerating. The back seat was very spacious, visibility out of the truck was good, the side view mirrors were the right size, and the step in height was better than the Ford or Chevy.

The higher end models have a nicer interior with better materials than the model I drove. Those nicer versions can get expensive though.

I have also driven a V6 model with the quad cab. Like the standard V6 models offered in the Chevrolet and GMC trucks, it feels almost as powerful as the previous generation entry level V8s. Not fast, but definitely not slow either provided you are sticking to a two wheel drive model. It was more than adequate for probably 95% of what half ton truck buyers will ever do with the truck - and I'd consider that one if I knew I was going to put a lot of highway miles on the rig without heavy trailers.

I definitely recommend it. Ram is actually gaining a little bit in market share, and they deserve to. Really the only thing about it that annoyed me was the electronic gear selector, but I'd probably get used to that pretty quickly.

The OT mostly hates Ram.

The OT hates everything that isn't a Ford, so they definitely shouldn't pass judgement on a Ram. Outdoor board may be mo betta if you have truck specific questions.

Ram makes a very good truck. It's well built, priced well, and seems to have a good range of engine options. If FCA put as much effort into their other cars as they did the Ram, the Grand Cherokee, or the Wrangler.... they'd be in much better shape today.

At this point, it is a good solid truck with a reliable drivetrain. Main issue is they are a bit outdated compared to the GM and Ford offerings.

This is true. They've done a good job keeping it relatively well updated especially from a power train perspective. but in some ways it is a bit behind. I think the styling looks better than all of the other competitors, but that is more subjective.

Chevrolet, GMC, and Ram are all due for new designs over next summer. Toyota the year after.
