So you went from concealed to not concealed like this guy?
Posted on 5/21/23 at 7:30 am to SlidellCajun
You do you. That said, if there is a cultcha chil’ in the gas station about to rob it and your in line he’s likely shooting you in the back.
That’s why I don’t open carry.

quote:Thats why more people needs to open carry. Honestly, not enough people carries. With how much violent crime is happening in the US, more people need to carry for personal protection. So if 4-5+ people are always open carrying, the thug can't just pick on 1, as there are too many. But with everyone concealing, and not many going open carry, then yes the one guy with a gun exposed might get picked on first. But that is another reason why more needs to open carry. Be loud and proud!
The only problem with open carry is, if you’re in a situation like being a bystander during an armed robbery or a mass shooting, you’re likely to be the first target of the shooter since they know you are a threat to them.

Agreed. Only cucks support concealed carry laws. Need to repeal all of them.
Any law to restrict any firearm or weapon or any law to restrict the weapon’s ability to have automatic fire capability is a gross assault on the second amendment.
Any gun control measure is an assault on all citizens’ 2nd amendment right.

If you live in the country, open carry.
Live in the city, CC.

I’m all for the element of surprise that’s why I conceal. Plus, if u open carry and a thug comes up from behind and sticks his gun in the back of ur neck, ur going to be disarmed or dead without a chance to shoot back or protect yourself.
Even though as mentioned, Ohio rescinded the permit requirement, I will always get one. It may make a slight difference if you have to go to court in that at least you have had some training and aren’t another rogue fanatic walking around with a gun. Public perception will convict you before a jury.

on a more serious note, why in the hell would you allow anyone to know you're carrying?
The are two reasons I can think of why a person would open carry, one valid, the other not.
1. They want people to see they have a firearm and think they’re a badass. They just want to impress people and they think open carrying their firearm does this.
2. They want people to see they have a firearm and think it’s best to not pull any shenanigans while they’re around. They think having a gun visible for all to see will discourage anyone from bothering them. I can actually somewhat see the logic in their reasoning.
For the record, I conceal carry almost everywhere I go.

2A means you can carry anywhere, in any fashion. Obviously, local governments (and states) disagree on this, but 2A is keep AND BEAR arms.
Regardless, I carry concealed (I have had a CHP since late aughts). No one needs to know I carry other than me (or my family, who know I do).

Probably true for some

Also, open carry allows for any handgun, not just a compact. Most people shoot better with a bigger gun.

This is a good reason.
It also makes you the target.
CC is better around other people. Most humans are retarded and will freak out around guns.

But that reason mainly applies if you happen to be in the immediate view of a mass shooter right before he’s about to start. The odds of that ever happening…
What if you’re open carrying in a convenience store and a would-be robber walks in? Will the robber wait until you leave, or move on? Or will he murder you before trying to rob the place? I don’t know, but I think it more likely he moves on or waits til you leave.
We always hear that “a good guy with a gun” makes us safer and gun-free zones are targets. So good guys who open carry oughta serve as a deterrent, by that logic.
I conceal carry myself bc there are reasons to do that in the city but I also see the validity in open carrying.

Seems to me that anyone wanting trouble is going to think twice.
With all due respect I'm a decent county boy that says "yes and no Sir" most of the time. I have no arrest record "lily white."
Providing I were a bad person intent on doing bad things you would be the first one I put a bullet in. Yup right behind your ear when you're looking a tooth paste or some dumb shite. I now have your firearm too. Go ahead and flex if you want. Just my .02

The majority of the B.R. contingent committing the crimes can’t hit the broad side of a barn from 6ft with how they hold their guns. If they could we’d have less of a problem here already.
If they see someone who looks like they know how to actually use their OC it might dissuade them from their usual antics on the way to their college courses in rocket science at LSU.

Retards ruin everything don’t they?
One legit reason to open carry is that any handgun can be carried on the hip. Not just a subcompact or snubnose which are harder to shoot as well.
Ideally, my carry gun of choice would be a Glock 20 bc I shoot it well, has nice capacity, and I love 10mm. I carry it when hog hunting.

Open carry has its place, but concealed carry is better.
Most people are not situationally aware enough to open carry responsibly, and most of the time when I see someone open carrying, it’s in a holster with zero retention.
A quick google search will show you that there have been several instances where people open carrying have been robbed of their firearm, so carrying it as a deterrent doesn’t always work.

By your logic, armed security is also not a deterrent but a target.
