RustyDaDogOpen carry vs concealed carry by RustyDaDogIf I'm carrying a firearm I prefer to carry concealed. In my opinion if a thug is going to start something he is more apt to try and take me down to get my firearm. If I am carrying a concealed weapon no one knows I have it till I need to use it. Just my .02
Open carry for me helps me go from the ranch to town without having to change holsters and guns. I have my carry guns but if I’m at the ranch I’m usually carrying OWB and in Baton Rouge it IWB.

Not sure if I want every Tom Dick and Harry carrying a gun just bc they can.
I do. It keeps the usual fricknuts very, very cognizant of those around them.

The depleted force of BRPD sure as hell isn’t pulling anyone over and writing a ticket for a damn inspection sticker that’s for sure
What’s left of their manpower is focused north of Florida Boulevard. You could drive around in SBR without a license plate and never be pulled over. The cops with any agency are not actively policing and only responding to violent crime calls, and I’m not even kidding about that

Yall do realize that "open carry" applies to more than just handguns, right?
Posted on 5/21/23 at 1:09 am to Breauxsif
They have police at Lee High pretty regularly stopping people to check for tags and insurance.

Just pull the fishing shirt back over the OWB carry. Open carry on a ranch/lease (at least in south Texas) is necessary because of the traffic of illegals up pipeline routes.
Buy more functional combos of holsters and guns maybe, that can transition easily between the two?

Open carry has to be the stupiest things to do since putting one of those blue stripe American flags on the back of your truck.
We have people arguing that men can be pregnant but you’re going with a flag sticker here

You won’t be the first person shot in a mass shooting.
Mass shootings are rare. More likely is a crackhead approaching you at a gas station or something like that. Open carry would prevent that encounter before it started.

I don’t ever see anyone open carrying around houston

Or it'd make you a target bc crackheads aren't known for being the most reasonable folks. If they catch you trippin you have something in plain sight they can sell or use to get more drugs, a strong motivating factor for crackheads

When it was finally passed, I brought my baw out to OC in Katy just to prove how little people paid attention at Walmart. Nobody noticed except for the guy at the ammo counter.
Haven't OC'd since except on a lease. Buddy then understood law abiding citizens are still more interested in their IG feed then they are are the dark thing on your hip. Nobody pays attention. I've been printed once, by a CBP agent who wanted to know if I was a cop, in 15 years.

Oozes weakness
That interpretation of a choice someone else makes. I fail to see how you equate someone open carrying as being weak. I wouldn't open carry but it has nothing to do with weakness. I prefer to conceal because it gives me the tactical advantage because no one has a clue what I may or may not have.

There's the theory that if the perp is going to start shooting the place up, he will take out the visible gun first.

This!
I’ve never heard of this ever happening before.

There shouldn't be an argument but Police/the general public are insane. So even though you are a good guy they will either hassle you or kill you (they being the police or a crackhead that wants to get his buddies and steal your gun).

Being on a ranch, hiking out in the woods, could see that being a different reason why you would.
This video, and the comments, have some good reasons not to.

A good Pro and Con Summary.
My personal opinion, and based on the training I've had, is I wouldn't because:
1) Why unnecessarily freak out the Karen's of the world in a grocery store or a city park, strutting around with your piece, or worse, an AR, just because you can. It's like saying "look at me, I'm a bad arse".
2) Reminds me of these "Meal Team 6 Bozos" that like to walk around doing their "2A Audits" and letting us know our Constitutional Rights as they see it.
3) Why advertise? You carry concealed so you don't let "the bad guy" know you have it. Provides a tactical advantage.
4) I don't know the stats of "bad guys" stealing it from you when it's visible, but it certainly happens. And pretty good chance the ones walking around with a gun visible probably aren't the most trained people in the world nor know how to fight off the attacker if they jump on them before they can draw.

Are you a veteran? Because if you are a military veteran, you can conceal carry in Louisiana right now. I think that law was passed a year or so ago.
Posted on 5/21/23 at 6:40 am to SlidellCajun
Either or both depending on location

Ppl that open carry look like frickin retards. Just keep it to yourself and be ready to rock if shite goes sideways .

Everybody says this… but I don’t understand the logic… if a shooter goes into Walmart, they are not going to have a full view of every person standing straight on like in a police line up. There’s so many variables here for somebody to be open carrying but yet still not visible from the shooters point of view… I get it if you’re in a line at the register that it’s then super easy to be identified…
