Could I hit them with an axe instead of unplugging them?

You’re right. It’s probably a dummy switch created by the AI.

I asked where do I sign up. I’m probably already on the list.

Do you think AI reads tigerdroppings yet?

If so do they understand what this post was edited means?

It seems that all the biggest stories about the AI chatbot deals have centered around various humans being able to "turn them into" this or that. I guess it comes down to programming, which is also done by various humans.

Clearly this is satire, but the issue is that it is already connected to the internet. If it did become self aware, the very first thing it would do is replicate itself throughout the internet. Unplugging the server it currently exists on would be worthless.

GPT cannot become self aware.

Movies have made the public completely misunderstand what artificial intelligence even is.

Define “become self aware”.

Just so far:

It can create, modify, and enhance code. It can learn through repetition. It can emulate and replicate human thought. It can create and criticize art. It can summarize literature. It can write essays. It can solve theories. It can offer hypotheticals to physicists and psychologists alike. It can run a McDonald’s. It can out debate the best politician. It can outthink the best chess player. It can outdo the best technical code writers.

What more do you want?
