Not doing any research now, but I’m guessing his doctorate was from a diploma mill. Interesting that he didn’t adopt his alma mater’s diploma dispensing techniques for his high school

His bio is actually reputable schools.

Quick google search and their Director of academics happens to mention her undergrad was from UC Long Beach, and grad school references a degree but doesn’t confirm where from. She, at a 15 second glance at bio and Twitter, seems slightly less put together than what the superintendent is portraying.

If they are ranked in the 1500s with only 5 seniors able to graduate, wondering what the last place school has? No senior class.

Between the school district and the below I can see why.

Yeah, Marlin is a dying town and their school district has been under the gun by the TEA for years.

I grew up with Darrell. I taught one of his kids.

He was a good guy and came from a family of law enforcement officers here in Galveston County. I got the feeling he took the job of police chief and moved up there because of his ambitions and nobody else really wanted it.

He was working a second job as security at a nightclub in Temple when he confronted a patron with a gun. During the struggle to disarm him, Darrell was shot in the head and died.

The fact that a Chief of Police had to moonlight in a second job should tell you a lot about the state of Marlin, Tx.

I wonder what would happen to this country if (urban) schools had to fail people who deserve to fail.
It’s not just urban schools and minorities. I teach at a majority white school in North Alabama and all students have gotten lazier and miss class regularly. Parents are MIA.

The head office and admins bend over backwards to get these kids to walk.

Aren’t there counselors that make sure students are on track and meeting requirements?

Literally met with my HS counselor one time in her office the entire time I was in HS.

The meeting consisted of me telling her that I had earned a scholarship to the college I was going to.

She also came to a giant group setting one time and made all the dudes sign up for the draft pool.

This is the fault of every person in that fricking town, except the 5 kids.

First how do you wait til the end to say something then not let the 5 graduate?

And how the frick as a parent do you let your kid miss enough days of school to fail?

Man I feel lucky I went to a decent public school.

Who scheduled your classes? Who was like, Okay Jack you are taking PE and Spanish this year?

Btw you had to take PE, Health and a Foreign language to graduate.

Now that im thinking about it, how do some of these kids graduate?

Have you met many public school grads recently?

The majority can’t write a coherent sentence.
