Has surpassed Canes in quality. Or Canes has declined.

And let’s not forget Abners, which started in Oxford, MS in 1993.

Yes Laynes was copied

It fricken fried chicken, it’s not something unique to this world

I absolutely love that I can get Laynes chicken in Raising canes at every exit, eat at Canes every chance I get, dang good stuff

It's not Chicken Little. It's just little chicken.

Usually not who has the idea. It's who runs with it.

I just don't get this board's obsession with Cane's beyond the LSU connection. It's extremely mediocre chicken and extremely overpriced for what it is.

I’m pretty sure Graves credited Guthries from where he got his inspiration.

Cane’s first diner was an old gas station, right?

Wolf's Bakery near the north gates. He found the logo and copied it for Cane's.

Seems like 2 like minded entrepreneurs had a similar idea in which one was extremely successful on a regional, now national level.

Canes is international now. Had it at the Galleria in Abu Dhabi last year.

There were places exactly like Canes in Alabama in the late 80s/early 90s. Canes didn’t invent it, just perfected it.

Steve Jobs did not invent the MP3 player, he just made it better

Todd Graves did the exact same thing but with his own version of Mississippi comeback sauce… like Layne’s

So it’s not like they invented anything themselves either

I don’t really know what happens behind closed doors, but I have to guess the other secret sauce is a solid executive management team.

He actually worked at Guthries while in college. As did one of the guys who started Zaxby’s. Guthrie’s was the first restaurant to specialize in only chicken fingers. Just goes to show you that it’s more than having a good model/idea it’s proper management that is successful.
