Are you certain they will let you in? Aren't they rather limiting as far as immigration?

If I were single, Or didn’t have kids, I would take this deal to a tropical tourist destination and partially invest in some condos and a charter fishing operation for steady income and keep the rest as a nest egg earning interest until I came of an age or condition where I couldn’t competently work anymore.

sure, who the f would want to move to Canada????

I'd move to Aruba, and live on the beach, and become an Aruban/Dutch citizen.

The idea of trying to keep you out of a border country in the scenario is to make visitation from family and friends more difficult and expensive, for the sake of evaluating the options with more pensiveness.

Otherwise it’s alot easier to say “gimme the money and I can move 10ft over the border and still live a basically American life”

Probably.

As others have said $1 mil isn't that much anymore in the US, but in many countries you could live like a king.

I'd prob move to a place like Portugal, where living is very cheap compared to the US and the rest of Europe, but you still have easy access to all of Europe.

Or somewhere in Asia.

$1m aint shite in todays money, even going to a shithole country.

now make it $5m and then yep, thats an easy move, pick any caribean island country and be set starting a new life over there.

hell, had killary won i might have taken what little money i have and done it anyway as this country went down in flames. the crazy bitch would have already started a war by now anyway.

you could conservatively investment all 1M and still live off 30-40 grand just fine in a cheap country for the rest of your life.

95% sure I'd take the deal.

Probably head down to Chile. Obviously would take a move to Western Europe in a heartbeat but that's tougher with work permits, etc. An Irish passport would be nice

Anyone not already a millionaire who wouldn't take this deal is an idiot.

Not enough to be set for life unless you're late 50s or older.

And the younger you are, the greater the uncertainty in terms of your new home turning into a cesspool within your lifetime.

Lol no. A million just isn't that much these days. I'd need life changing money to leave the US.
