KKK.

Used to be huge organization in many states

Now it's a toothless bogeyman used to scare people...even though their worldwide membership couldn't fill a high school gym, and half of those are federal agents.

Can you file a complaint against the Better Business Bureau to the Better Business Bureau?

The KKK had elected officials all over the country in the 1920’s including what is now known as The People’s Republic of Portland.

My dad tried to make me join the masons when I was a little kid.

I balked and my mom took my side.

I’m 40 and I’m usually the youngest guy in there by like 30 years. I don’t see how a significant percentage of parishes that exist now aren’t gone in 10-15 years.

A lot of those 40 year olds, who don’t go to church now, will be getting calloused knees when death is near in their 70’s.

still enjoy a good flame grilled Whopper occasionally.

It’s actually one of the best fast food hamburgers available. It’s big enough to be its own meal with no fries needed.

New Orleans has an Odd Fellow's Rest cemetery at the end of Canal Street.

It took me a long time to realize they were just an old quasi Masonic group.

I always just thought it was a kickass sounding place to be buried.

One of my great-grandfathers has an Oddfellows marker on his grave in New Orleans.

A lot of lodges and fraternal orders, like the Knights of Columbus, were founded to provide death benefits and mutual aid in the days before insurance became widely available to regular consumers, and long before Medicaid or Medicare. They obviously faded some when the market changed.

They were basically an early form of insurance.
