And FDR let it happen...
I don't actually believe that because the American people would have killed him if he said "yes, Japan just attacked us, but we really need to get into the European war."
Hitler gave FDR that opening when he stupidly declared war on the USA on 12/11 - which he did not have to do under the terms of the Tripartite Pact.

Hard to believe the magnitude of the conflict this day plunged our country into. Aside from an apocalypse, the blood shed in WW2 will never be matched.

France is an ungrateful biotch to this day.

I guess that's why they're cool with the multiple American military cemeteries and monuments that exist on their land...

Agreed.
I was in Paris this summer. The amount of disdain and scorn they have for Americans is unreal. I had bouncers at a club tell me that I wouldn’t have a good time inside since I was American.
It’s like they’ve forgotten over 70 years how the Germans marched in and took that bitch over without batting an eye. If it wasn’t for us they’d be eating sauerkraut and pretzels instead of their crepes and cheese.

Agreed , how do you know it’s spring time in France ? The Germans are matching two by two

Now, I've never been to France, so this is second-hand information from people I've talked to who have been there.
The people who live in rural France, especially in the northern part of the country, are much better to Americans and do remember. It is only in the biggest cities, especially Paris, where they have a stick up their arse. People have told me that if you want to see the "real" France, go to the rural areas. Been told the same about Britain.

The US is the same way. Had a man from Singapore tell me in San Francisco that one day he wanted to travel to the Midwest and south and see the “real” America

Bro. They’re bouncers at a club for a reason.

I've also heard this about France and I think it's probably true about any country. But if you want to see the real Britain, go to a pub.

There is no difference in any country to get the feel of the real people of that country. This includes USA.

Worldwide, yes.
America's the best at killing, though, so that's why our bloodiest war was when Americans got down on some other Americans.
Its not even close.
Interestingly enough, about twice as many people died from "other" than combat in the Civil War. Minor injuries and sicknesses were lethal on the Civil War battlefield. The horrific conditions were a third party to the war that both the Union and the Confederacy were ravaged by. By WWII, things had skewed the other direction, with twice as many men dying in combat than to "other". Equipment and battlefield medicine improved vastly in those 80 years.
Yeah. Only 80 years between the two wars. 1861 to 1941. In those 80 years, we went from horses and muskets to B-29s and plutonium implosion devices.
