I'm still willing to agree that the death numbers were probably inflated for the same reason Covid numbers were inflated. To instill fear, control, etc.
This makes absolutely zero sense considering governments already had a level of control they had never enjoyed before due to the First World War. There was already plenty of fear to go around with the millions of young men who died on the battlefields of the world from 1914-1918. Plus you had the devastating wars in eastern Europe from 1918-1922 that (probably) killed more people than the First World War did.
Want to know what happened when the pandemic was officially declared over in 1920? Laissez Faire. The Harding and Coolidge administrations would oversee some of the most free and conservative times we have known in the history of our nation (Prohibition aside).

Unlike Spanish Flu, this thing can not only mutate but can attack multiple parts of the body (heart, brain, organs) instead of just the lungs.

It is called the "Spanish Flu" because only Spain had free press it the time to report it. The rest of the world involved in WWI (including the US) restricted the press to not affect morale for the war. Spanish Flu and c19 are related which is why stopping it before it could mutate was so important. About a decade after the Spanish Flu there was a massive global "die off" that has now been attributed to those who survived Spanish Flu at the end of WWI We are arguing about pro and anti vaccine when the real threat is long c19 which, like the Spanish Flu, will resurface in the initial survivors and kill them later. Those that fail to study history are their own worst enemy.
Covid and influenza are nothing alike except they are both viruses.

I wonder what the government would have done in 1918 with citizens destroying cities because a drugged out burglar had a heart attack while being detained by police.

Are you looking in the mirror right now?
Seriously, I grew up in a post Spanish Flu world and was raised by folks who survived it. What is your frame of reference? The internet? Social Media?

Yes - there were communists amongst us at that time too. Thankfully, they aren’t very good at math and don’t really know what to do once any of them get in power

It must also be remembered, however, that the mortality rate for those infected by the Spanish Flu was a staggering 20%. The Wuhan Flu's mortality rate for those infected was something like 0.05%.
False.
Wuhan mortality was about 0.5% during the first year. You were off by a factor of ten. Plus, you are off by a factor of 8 on the Spanish Flu, which had an overall mortality rate of about 2.5%
Scientific Study Comparing Covid 19 and Spanish Flu
So 0.5% for Covid and 2.5% for Spanish Flu makes the Spanish Flu 5 times as bad. You had it as 400 times as bad.
Your overall point is correct - Spanish Flu was a lot worse. What made it even worse is that Spanish Flu tended to kill young people, while Covid tended to kill old and infirm people. The mortality rate for 25 to 35 year olds, for Spanish Flu, was 8 to 10%. Horrible!

Really?
How many on the OT were born before WWII or just after. You would have to be at least 80 or 90 to qualify. Think being at least as old as Biden or Trump.

My grandparents family on my moms side all died of spanish flu, except my grandad. He was orphaned and as a 12 yr old came over by boat from Eastern europe. Was adopted by cousins in the prairies.

My great x2 uncle worked on railroad and told stories of morgue trains that carried the dead during Spanish flu

I don’t believe this picture. It’s either photoshopped or a recent staging. The Spanish Flu is nothing new, yet until Covid I never heard of masking back then or anything similar to what they pushed on us. This is something to normalize mandates and say “See, this isn’t the first time. Get on board.”

Me too - I was born in 1941 and my parents were born in 1919 - thus, all of us grew up in a "post Spanish Flu world". I'm not sure how you think that gives you and I any better insight into this subject than anyone else posting on this board.
