since the 5.0 is being discontinued in the light truck market. I can certainly understand customers preferring the 5.0.
That was why I bought mine this year.

You shouldn't have trouble out of any vehicle properly maintained at 5-7 years. Oil changes and tires.
And I'm shocked if true, because Dodge/Chrysler quality is awful on every vehicle they manufacture. No clue how they are still in business.

Ignorance like this: quote:Sounds weak. Get a diesel. I'm partial to Chevrolet, but if you're going to get a Ford, at least get the 6.7 diesel in a F250 series. All of the other motors they have right now are complete garbage. At least you're getting a 4x4 though. Not sure why people would buy a truck that isn't 4x4.
That's not really ignorant, just a fact. If you need power, you get a diesel. You can't argue with that. Also, fuel economy is way better in diesel than in gas. Diesel fuel costs more, but even taking that into consideration, a diesel still beats a gas motor.

Once again if you aren't brand stuck. 8700 rebate on a Denali, play around on their site you will get a 1500 private offer. 58750.00 for a Denali Ultimate 6.2. Less that 50 will get you the best truck on the road.

if you're comparing apples to apples, sure. But you can't do that. Not everyone needs an F250 or a diesel. You're also ignoring higher cost of maintenance, the higher cost just to the diesel, etc. You are being 100% ignorant in this thread.

Make sure to get a package that comes with the 360 degree camera view.

Once again, wrong.... Yes a diesel does cost more to maintain, but you will buy 2-3 trucks with a gas motor before you have to replace a diesel. So you actually come out better with a diesel if not at least break even. You misread my last post...I said even when considering the higher cost of diesel fuel it is still worth it. The mpg's of a diesel compared to a gas motor are high enough that you still get more miles per amount of money spent.
You're right in that not everyone needs a 250 type of model, but in my case I do. Also, I have a longer than average commute to/from work every day and I have spent less money since I upgraded from gas to diesel. I get to drive a bigger truck that I often need, and it's cheaper to drive...

This used to be true - on up through the '00s - but not with all the smog equipment they carry now. This latest generation of diesels has been a nightmare. Running cost is even higher than it used to be and reliability, which used to be the selling point, has nose-dived. I'm in the market for something to tow a 5er and won't even consider a diesel.

I may tow a boat or a trailer 10-15 times a year and I don't need a diesel. My step-dad has a 6.7 Lariat, but he's also got a lot more money than me. The super duty's are badass, but it would make zero sense for me to have one. If I needed to tow something much bigger I would just ask to borrow his.
I'm perfectly satisfied with my F150 with the 6.2 V8.

This is true. I have a stock 06' that gets 20 mpg's on highway. In 07' they started introducing all that emissions crap, however, if you modify your vehicle with aftermarket performance parts and a tuner you can more than make up for that.
The newest models of gas engine are definitely right up there with the diesel motors for mpg; and if you're not needing to pull so much they will work. The diesel trucks will always put out more ft-lbs of torque.

I'm not wrong. You're just stupid. There, I said it. Happy now?

This is just bullshite.

That would be the case if your math was based on your bullshite, but the real world doesn't work that way.

No I didn't.

That's not a universal truth though, so again, you're ignorant.

You show me an F250 that gets 20 mpg. Find me one that isn't modified. I'll wait.
When comparing them in a vacuum, sure they get more MPG. But that's not how they exist, so it's an ignorant thought from you.

The shut up about saying it;'s always better. For you, that's great. But it's not a truth. You're original post in this thread reads like you have the world's smallest penis. You are a living, breathing stereotype. Congrats.

I know 2 people that lost engines in 6.7 fords under 90k. One a 12 and one a 13. The 12 was tuned DPF delete. He got lucky because the dealer did the work and got Ford to cover it. The 13 was a mystery. Ford took the motor and never told him what went wrong.

Impossible. This one random guy said diesels last at least twice as long as normal trucks.

my F-250 turned out to be a maintenance pig after only about 110k, when I bought it I though I'd have it for a while, went back to a gazzoleen motor

The amount at which you rant about things makes you sound like an angry little idiot. One who can not engage in reasonable argument without jumping to attempts at insulting the other screams of low intelligence.
All you've said so far is I'm wrong, but have not provided anything to back the argument up with.
Well you did say I can't show you a Ford that will do 20 mpgs. That is correct. This is why I'm partial to Chevrolet, because they will do 20 mpg with the diesel. I've driven gas engine trucks my whole life until about 2 years ago when I bought a diesel. I will never go back. So I speak from experience....what do you speak from? Oh, right, that's called ignorance.

Diesel is always going to be the answer if you have to tow a dozen round bales of alfalfa or a backhoe on the reg. You NEED that torque in those circumstances. But for guys like me just looking to tow a 5th wheel travel trailer, guzzoline is the smart choice given that they're cheaper initially, cheaper to run, and with the ongoing smog equipment disaster, longer lasting. Not back in the day when you needed a 454 sucking down the petrol just to get 250 hp out through 4 gears. But nowdays... the gas motors are making the power diesels did in the '90s and putting them through much better transmissions. Yeah, you don't get to brag about them like you do diesels, but oh well.

Then you're making a mistake. Do some unbiased research on the Ford 6.7. Discount what you are on the commercial trucks since the engines aren't configured the same way.
Second choice is the Duramax. Lastly would be Ram. Great longevity, but noisy and we'll behind on power.
