Don't count the 2.7 out. It is the fastest/quickest/peppiest of the Ford truck offerings. It is almost 1000lbs lighter than any other full size truck so it drives like a luxury suv. It does give up 2k lbs towing but for those doing 75% non tow driving, give it a test drive.

Find a good used one man. Bought my neighbors truck after prodding him about it for 6 months as he never drove the damn thing and had an older Ranger (his first truck) and a Honda Accord. Bought the 09' F150 last April with 23,000 miles for only $8,600.

The basic Ford 302 has been around since 1969. I would imagine it has more development and real world miles than the Eco Boost.

Not saying the Eco Boost is a bad engine, or even suspect, but the 5.0 has a lot of history.

The current 5.0 has barely anything in common with those older versions other than the displacement.

There is a ton of new tech in the 5.0, just as there was in the ecoboost when they were both introduced.

These statements are both true. The Ecobosst had more issues than the 5.0 when first introduced, but it seems that the Ecoboosts have been "figured out" at the current time. I'd have no issues buying an Ecoboost today from a reliability issue.

You mean I can't just swap a '69 302 into the engine bay of a 2016?
What about if I use an adapter kit?

Sounds weak. Get a diesel. I'm partial to Chevrolet, but if you're going to get a Ford, at least get the 6.7 diesel in a F250 series. All of the other motors they have right now are complete garbage. At least you're getting a 4x4 though. Not sure why people would buy a truck that isn't 4x4.

Don't get it from Robinson Brothers. Their service department is shitty.

Don't buy a Ford, and you won't need the service department.

Johnny Cash-Ome Piece at a Time.

I think Ford's engine program is ahead of everyone else, with the exception of a high performance, large displacement gas V-8. The GM 6.2 is still the class of the field here. The Scorpion diesel is light-years ahead of GM. The EcoBooat 6 cylinder configuration just doesn't yet have the history and customer miles that the small V8 has, but that's changing rapidly since the 5.0 is being discontinued in the light truck market. I can certainly understand customers preferring the 5.0.

I'm not brand loyal, I'm just partial. I will only drive a diesel because you can't get enough power out of a gas motor. Right now the best diesel on the road is the Chevrolet 6.6 duramax. Ford's 6.7 is turning out to be pretty good, but it's still too new to really be comfortable with. Ford used to make a 7.3 that was hands down better than any other diesel. Why they quit making it? I don't know.

Anyways, ignorant people making comments in these threads are the best.

I would go with the 3.5 over the 5.0. If you're not towing anything over 9k lbs get the 2.7. It's fast and gets 20.5 average mpg . Sports package seats are the best.

In late October 2015, I bought F150 XLT 2.7 for $33,000. I added leather a week later for $1200.
The only thing I am missing is push button starter and navigation on radio and cool seats.
I saved an easy 5 to 6 grand to use somewhere else.

Trip to Dallas for Memorial Day weekend, I avg 22 mpg

I love pressing S button and leaving other trucks in the dust.

Not sure I will ever buy another F-150! Mine is a 2011 with only 65k miles but it just always has quality issues. I had 3 Ram's before this F-150 and never had one ounce of trouble with them even after 5-7 years of owning so maybe I am just expecting to much.

A/C has always sucked.

Multiple Computer updates to fix sluggish shifting and performance issues.

Tow mode downshifting problems.

Drivers windows stopped working. Fixed now it just doesn't work intermittently

Paint chips very easily.

sync intermittently just doesn't work. Turn off truck then back on it works again.

Had to replace the door lock actuators on 3 of the 4 doors and one of the ones replaced is not working again.

I know all trucks have their issues but I guess since this is my first Ford I am just not impressed. I do love the look of the 2015+ trucks but just not sure I can buy another Ford at this point..

You got one lemon. Don't rule out an entire brand because of a lemon. Chrysler wouldn't exist if everyone reacted that way

The last gen F150 is not known for lemons like the one you apparently got. Older Chryslers have a very long and verified history of subpar quality. Yet somehow that company is still around.
