You'r the one that went off on the original rant there buddy.

All you've said so far is I'm wrong, but have not provided anything to back the argument up with.

That's an odd way of looking at what's happened here.

This is why I'm partial to Chevrolet, because they will do 20 mpg with the diesel

Which one? The highest real world average for any model year is the newest one at a whopping 14.8 mpg. I'm sure if you hypermile and mod the crap out of your truck, you'll get an actual 20 mpg out of a tank. But it will never be the norm or any sort of real world average.

So I speak from experience....what do you speak from? Oh, right, that's called ignorance.

I speak from having a brain and using it. I don't have to currently drive a diesel to know what they are capable of.

Which model? A V6?

The 4.6?

Because the 5.7 with 4.30 gears has no 'seat of the pants' competition other than the GM 6.2. I know the Eco 3.5 is more powerful, but it doesn't come on until a little later than the Toyota 5.7 and its ridiculous gearing, which is hard to not peel out with on dry pavement, even with traction control.

Had to be 4.6. Good motor in terms of reliability, but a lot less ballsy (I know, I have a GX with one) and I'm not sure the 4.6 comes pared with the nutso 4.30s that are standard with the 5.7. The reason the Tundra 5.7 still feels so spry despite now falling behind on raw power is also why it gets such awful mileage: bonkers gearing.

The gas motors still lack the torque of diesels. Torque is what you need when towing.

If you're towing a 5th wheel w/ a gas you are gonna be right up against weight limits. Doable, but much more of a PITA.

Then you're making a mistake. Do some unbiased research on the Ford 6.7. Discount what you are on the commercial trucks since the engines aren't configured the same way.

I just traded my 13 f250 on a 16 f150 3.5. The 250 held it's value well but after I sold my enclosed car hauler and I didn't need the diesel anymore. I had the 250 3 years 50k and it cost me about 15k in depreciation. Not too shabby for such a big expensive vehicle. Plus I got a decent write off. I was going to wait for the new SD but didn't really need it and the cabs are the same as the 150 so I just got a 150 platinum.

They hold their value really well, much better than Ram and similar to GM.

I can't wait for the 2017s. The cab space will be much better than the current model.

I brought the wife a Nissan Pathfinder 16. They had the wrong price on the website. Saved 11k. Don't impulse buy, look around a few months. Also look at other near by states too.

I don't have to drive a gasoline truck anymore to know what they're not capable of. What is your point in all of this anyways? All I originally said was get a diesel for more power and economy. You obviously don't like diesel, and I do. Whether that's because you're a green freak and hate every diesel driver or because you just like gasoline better...idk. All that matters is if you can afford to fill the tank and keep the tires rolling, drive whatever the frick you want. I know what I get out of mine and have yet to find a gas motor that will do the same.

You spouted off a bunch on nonsense in your first post and then accused me of ignorance. I've been trying to correct you,m but you seem like a lost cause.

Wrong.

Your singular experience has never been called to question. That is what you seem unwilling to understand.

Dodge/Chrysler quality is awful on every vehicle they manufacture. No clue how they are still in business.

By being a lot cheaper. Seriously. Their whole deal is getting people to look at them because they are offering power equal to or greater than their competition - and now that they've stepped their interior game way up - equal or nicer interiors and tech, for a decidedly cheaper price. They hope that the price being lower is enough to make you roll the dice on what everyone knows is lower quality. They get enough people to do that and they are able to stay in business.

Toyota is basically the opposite. They don't refresh sheetmetal as often, don't offer as much tech, are fine with falling behind in other areas, and charge a lot without backing off of MSRP like the domestics because they're selling quality and resale value.

Ford and Chevy are somewhere in between on that equation. They're both in a power and tech war, both care some about quality - not as reliable as Toyota or as crap as Chrysler - and price-wise, after rebates and such, are in between there as well.

Excellent post. I did some quickie internet research on resale value on the big 3 3/4 tons awhile back. Ram is a bit cheaper to buy initially, but resale value falls off a cliff, relative to Ford and GM.

I only looked at diesels with upper trim levels.

Ford may have been a bit better, but both Ford and GM did really well.

In terms of resale on the 3/4 tons, there are a lot of diehards who love the Duramax/Allison combo for reliability. It's developed an aura like Toyota has for cars and light trucks in that same respect. Auto writers will comment that GM isn't interested in winning the diesel power wars because they know that they're seen as a rock solid platform in terms of quality. Cummins is of course a high-quality power unit, the trouble is it is well known that the truck will fall apart around that Cummins motor.

Don't disagree on the Duramax/ Allison quality at all, but GM's quality with other components has a fallen.
Hopefully, the new gen is better than the 07-13s.

I've never understood why in the decades I have driven them GM has never been able to make a water pump or an alternator that can make it past 75,000 miles and why, after becoming legendary for their failure rate, they haven't been able to do anything about the tendency of their door handles to come off. It's mind boggling. Rode in a 2016 Silverado LTZ the other day and the back seat interior door handles looked like flimsy cheap crap. The white of the interior plastic showed through at the "seam" along the top edge and in terms of feel, it felt lighter and more plasticy and crappy than the previous generation. C'mon.

Your funny, what do you think feels 'overpowered'? If you say Dodge, Chevy, or Ford, you obvious have never driven one.

I get you're a Toyota salesman, but they are at the back of the pack in the fullsize market (scratch that since Nissan brought that god awful looking Titan redesign to market). Every review pretty much anywhere will confirm it. The Tundra is not particularly good looking, not efficient, not loaded with tech, , not the best performing, not the cheapest, etc. The only thing it has going for it is Toyota's reputation, but that can only go so far.
