That's got to be from evaporation!!!!
.03 of a foot in two hours is a very slow fall.

Wife leaving Lamar says weather looks to be getting nasty? We don't need anymore of that rain stuff.

I'm hearing Manchac is over I-10 again. This is no bueno! Is it still pouring over Alligator Bayou road?

Depends on which way it is flowing. If it is going back to the Amite, then it is good news for this area.
Based on gauge readings, water is still pouring into Alligator Bayou but the rise is slowing down. I heard that they put an aqua dam in the area of I10 where Spanish Lake overflow was getting on the interstate. Wouldn't be surprised if that water ran back up I10 where Manchac is.

They probably are. Im sure they're float gauges

SIAP, word on the street is they are going to cut the road at the Alligator Bayou structure down to the water level on the Manchac side, then continue excavating down as the water levels drop to do a controlled drain of the Spanish Lake side while not overwhelming the Manchac side.

That's all well and good I suppose, but why not just open the locks?
You know, in case of hurricanes n shite.

Yeah they're having a press conference on WAFB right now. Controlled cut to happen once Manchac is 2 feet above road apparently. Supposed to take pressure off Spanish Lake. Where the water will go I'm having a hard time following

Just listened to press conference about relieving pressure in Spanish Lake/Bluff Swamp. Effort to get water out of there in "days instead of months".
Plan is to make a "controlled cut" by Frog Bayou locks about 70' wide. Won't cut any deeper than level of Bayou Manchac. As Manchac lowers, they'll cut deeper. Will have sandbags on hand in case Manchac rises and they need to fill in "cut" to keep Manchac from flowing back into Spanish Lake/Bluff Swamp from that area.
I've got no clue where Frog Bayou locks are. Maybe DownShift can come shed some light.
