Looking at the graph, Bluff Swamp is very close to cresting, maybe at 12.6?
that's good. or would that water backflow somewhere else?

Crap so my house in Spanish lakes subdivision in st gabriel is going to be flooded. I am at my parents house in siegen ln. so I can go to work knowing my wife and son won't be in any danger.

The good news is the Amite is falling quickly. Once it falls lower than the water surface elevation at alligator, everything will be able to drain out in the right direction (to the Amite).

I am just a civil engineer, not a water expert, and not super familiar with the hydrology in that part of the state. Until this fiasco, I didn't realize so much of BR drained to the Amite.
But I would guess, that when it crests, you will start to see dropping all around there. I don't think anywhere that's not flooded now would be flooded after the crest. Assuming everything holds. No one is out of the woods, but I'd feel a lot better about the Ridge Road people.

Not exactly. It will keep rising (slowly) until the level of the Amite at Manchac is lower.

I would like to, but I'm in Covington trying to find a way there.

Revised forecast at Amite/Bayou Manchac shows predicted level 14.9ft at 1PM and hitting 13.5ft at 7PM.
LINK
I'm pretty sure previous forecast had Amite/Bayou Manchac not dropping below 15ft until 7PM.

Bayou Fountain dropped another eighth of an inch (15.05').
Two hours at a lower rate of increase. Port Vincent dropped 1.5" in past hour so that means Amite/Manchac should be dropping too, we just don't know at what rate.

First house on the right after the main curve on ridge road
I'm in the trailer right past you riding it out. I stay in the first red brick house past all the S curves. The one with the Big arse live oak. Thint that house was one of the first houses on Ridge and was supposedly built on the highest point on the Ridge. The newer homes are about my elevation or a little higher as you can see from my neighbors house.

What's the projected crest at that point?
I still contend that Bluff Swamp is close to cresting. There are a lot of factors at play, and a lot of storage between the Amite and Bluff Swamp that are draining now and will take on some of that water before it gets back to the Amite

This would be awesome. That would cut off the back flow. Please please please be correct!!!

Are you basing that just off of that graph or are other sources giving those predictions too? I'm pretty sure that graph hasn't updated since Sunday.

There's no official projection. Like I said it will stop rising when the Amite is lower than it.The good news is the Amite is lowering much faster than alligator is rising. Plus the head difference is getting smaller so that rate of rise at alligator is getting smaller as well.

Bluff swamp is still taking water over alligator bayou so it is not crested. Manchac at kleinpeter is crested, higher than alligator bayou road.
Bluff swamp will not crest until water quits going over alligator bayou road.
