This was not a one time mistake on her part. If I had this same pattern of drinking & driving, DUIs, suspended license, and so on, I would deserve all of the ugly comments. It's unfortunate for her family that their daughter/sister/fiancée is a reckless degenerate, but she chose to ruin her own life and destroy an innocent man's family.

If she's got money she'll do 2-5 of years. If she doesn't she's in for 10-15. It all depends on how are the victims family pushes it and that depends on whether they can get a fat tort settlement.

Good points. I think that since her license was suspended, one could reasonably presume her insurance was suspended. If she doesn't have real property or other assets, a tort settlement would be unrealistic.
I was a state and federal prosecutor with some brain function... The circumstances surrounding this stand out. I don't doubt this woman is from a nice family and it appears her life was on track, but took a wrong turn recently.
However, she causes an accident that results in the violent death of a man who, from what I've seen, was working his arse off driving to work offshore job at 0230. I say violent because the truck moved and spun, then he's impaled and his arm was probably severed too high to tourniquet the wound.
To the poster insulting TD OT: go read the 1st amendment. In the meantime, should you wish to discuss, I don't live in a cave, so don't go spelunkeling. I'm usually at the Synagogue on Fri. evenings, anyway, putz.

I feel sorry for her family and the family of the man she killed, but this was not a mistake, it was a choice she made. She didn't care about her previous two DWIs or the fact that she had a suspended license when she decided to do wrong. She knew even planning to drive was wrong and did it anyway because she didn't give a damn. She didn't care that she would disappoint her friends and family if something happened. If I had two DWIs, you can bet your arse I wouldn't be drinking without a solution to getting home that didn't involve me driving.
