I could not imagine working in the ER in Baton Rouge.

It must be absolute hell.

Every ER doc and nurse should be issued a tazer for these animals.

Concerns about workplace safety for hospital employees have grown since a Baton Rouge General nurse died in April from complications resulting from a patient attack. Lynne Truxillo's death prompted members of the nursing community nationwide to demand better hospital safety practices to minimize their profession's dangers, which have long been a problem. The patient in Truxillo's case was arrested on manslaughter.

Read some of the article...

So, a guy attacked the nurse and she died from injuries from the attack?

How is that not 2nd degree murder? Did his lawyer make a deal for manslaughter? I don't get that.

Depends on the circumstances. It could easily be manslaughter in this case.

Manslaughter is the initial charge, probably based on evidence, or lack-there-of. They might look to raise the charge or shoot for the maximum penalty for manslaughter

fricking animals. I am a huge proponent of prison reforms, but I have no tolerance for violence.

There is no place for a person like this in the public. I would have no problem with a violent offenders being locked away for life.

And how is mental illness an excuse? To me that makes it worse.

There is 99% chance that the patient was not insured.

I wish that we could just shoot people like this in the head and move on.

This guy is no good to anyone.

That ship has sailed. The OLOL emergency room gets most of the EKL patients now.

Well, how else do we expect our historically underserved North Baton Rouge community to react to systemic oppression and white privilege?
