No. It’s a little convenience store as best I recall.

people always say this but is it actually true. How many people get murdered in prison and how many commit suicide? Is it really that common?

Lots of college kids can be categorized as this, especially at a place like Ole Miss- does whether or not had a history of aggression and anger when drunk would be the needed detail. Would need that info from ppl who knew him.

I mentioned he was an alcoholic to state that he was probably hammered when it happened. A few guys in my fraternity that are genuinely good people were really good friends with him. They’re all in shock. None of them can believe that he was capable of something like this. Honestly stuff like this happens here more than you think. Kids from a lot of money that have never faced any sort of struggle in their life are suddenly hit with something bad and it always ends horribly. Such as an SAE killing a cop back in 2006 during a routine traffic stop just because he was drunk. Two years ago, a phi Delt that was on probation got into an accident while drunk and instead of doing a small amount of time he shot himself on the scene. There are more examples than just these two stories. This shite happens a lot and its always never as severe as the kid thinks it is. Please don’t spoil your kid rotten. This is the type of stuff that results from it

Kind of crazy how small the world is...the girl who works the desk at the workout place I go to in Austin went to and graduated from San Marcos Academy with this kid. She said her and other graduates (couldn't have been a big class) have been texting all day about this. Said one of persons on the text thread mentioned that it was known he carried the Glock (which carries 8 rounds) in his truck at all times and that he had been known to sell/dabble in selling drugs at the academy.

I've got to imagine that cell phone pings put his phone near the location where they found the body etc. during the timeline of the murder. I knew a guy who's now in death row in Huntsville (or at least in Huntsville) for a murder in which that was the primary evidence. Similar situation...well to do young man murders ex-girlfriend (fortunately no pregnancy that I ever heard of).

This girl's death is incredibly sad.

I would assume this isn't a reasonable defense in a case like this. Lawyers am I correct? I hope it isn't.

No it's not common. There's plenty of cases of people on death row appealing constantly to prolong the process. Most people dont want to die no matter what.

Cell phone pings are pretty much useless now. Good defense attorneys destroy when they are brought as evidence

In Louisiana at least, intoxication is only a defense if it was involuntary.

That's actually really interesting - I seem to recall they were a big part of the conviction of the person I knew (this was at least 10 years ago when the trial happened). And then I read through the appeal (I'm an atty but not crim thank god) and that was the biggest error that the defense raised. But the Tx Criminal Court of Appeal I guess said it was usable.

It really is. Both sets of parents would rather deal with a kid than losing their kids. Both parents lose kids. Over something that could easily be worked out with the resources they have.

from the last article.

An acquaintance of Theesfeld, who asked to remain anonymous, told Heavy that Theesfeld would carry a 9mm Glock 38 handgun in his truck. The Glock handgun holds eight rounds.

You are right. The murder rate in prison is actually less than the general population. (3 per 100,000)

Suicide rates are slightly higher though (16 per 100,000)

Not crazy high numbers like most people suggest. I know they supposedly target pedophiles, but why would some random prison thug be after this guy? I don't think they are looking for justice for some rich white girl. Although I wish they would.

My guess is that prisoners have different levels of tolerance for incarnation. Many of them have probably been in and out their whole lives and it's somewhat of a normal thing. I don't think that will ever be the case for this guy and he will be a constant target. Aaron Hernandez couldn't take it after a few years.

Probably don’t need a lawyer to tell you being drunk isn’t a loop hole that helps get you off for murder

Why? I mean I hope he is. I just don't see why another inmate would want to kill him.

Unless the source specifically knew the gun in question, that’s speculation.

Glocks have interchangeable mags with different capacities, mainly due to some states like NJ and Delaware demanding that no one have more than X bullets in the mag.

The one I have has a standard capacity of 15 plus one in the slide but also comes in capacities of 8, 10, and 30+.

This isn’t like a revolver that has a permanent cylinder which only has room for 5 or 6 shots.

If I’m this dude I would 100% off myself before going to that prison for life. I hope he doesn’t because he deserves to live out his life in that living hell

If he truly had blood all in his truck I don’t know how he didn’t get the frick out of dodge sooner
