Prediction: Before we die, we will see people make the same argument regarding the American flag.

Most people can not handle this truth. In the direction we are headed, you are spot on. Very few liberals really seem to have an outward sense of pride for their actual country. All they sense is shame. So they don't see the need to embrace the American flag. They identify it as a symbol of oppression!

Long as enough of us are willing to actually fight for it, we can keep it and they can have their own damn flag.

Whiny minority? Yeah, which of your relatives have been lynched within the past 150 years? Did your parents ever have to give you "the talk" about how you better shut up or you might be murdered by a belligerent police officer, only to have loads of people voice their monetary and verbal support in favor of Barney Fife with a gun? No, and neither have I. We have it pretty good. Accept it and love it, you silly count.

That flag represents the strength, perseverance, and spirit of the South. Any white supremacist OR liberal pussy who thinks they know what that flag means better than people who are born and raised in the South, whose ancestors fought under that flag, and who have the South in their heart and are damn proud of the history and culture shouldn't have a say in any of this, period. And yet, they continue to get the only and final say. It's absolutely pathetic, but welcome to America 2015.

You're right. They see it as nothing. Just as a piece of colorful cloth.

Yeah, slavery. Real proud legacy to stand for. Seriously, do you really think people would be all that understanding of the Germans if they held these beliefs that their ancestors fought for a noble cause? And hell, most Germans know someone who fought with/for the Nazis, while you likely don't know someone who knew someone who fought in the Civil War. It's just laughable that people hold this much pride over atrocities committed in the past and completely rewrite history.

I'd be shocked if Mississippi had its same flag this time next year, so I doubt it.

And has someone has already mentioned..It is only a matter of time before the flag is removed completely. I don't know why people are so staunch in their stance to keep the thing waving. It's not as if you won't still be able to fly it in your yard or on your truck or dress your children in it.

It's not the point. It's the state flag and a state institution has made a concious decision to deliberately remove the state flag from the grounds of said state institution. If the people of the state want to change the flag then let the process work itself out and then fly the new one.

They are going to try to force the state's hand with the potential of this backfiring in their face if the people of MS want to keep the flag.

Oh screw you buddy. I love black people and I love the contributions of black people to American culture. And hey, don't want to trigger you, but those contributions would not have existed if not for the institution of chattel slavery in the early days of the republic, so thank God slavery isn't around anymore, but it IS part of history, and history is part of culture. And if you let the marxists take away our culture like they are trying to it will be a god damn travesty.

An outlaw named Kenneth in Wyoming sometime in the 1890s, if I recall.

Yeah, but half this board is under the delusion that slavery wasn't a primary reason for the Civil War. Well...: LINK

Slavery IS the Confederacy's legacy. Democracy IS America's legacy. That's a pretty damn big difference. Yes many atrocities have been carried out by America, like say "The Trial of Tears", but America has been the world standard on governments since its inception, and it has always won in the long run. Confederacy has no legacy besides slavery and good battle tactics. Do you really need a flag derived from that to define your Southern heritage. I personally prefer the food and the music to do that.

You mean the one that goes like this?

"Don't do anything to harm or take from anybody else, but if you get pulled over, don't talk back, obey the officer's commands and if it progresses further call a lawyer."

only to have loads of people voice their monetary and verbal support in favor of Barney Fife with a gun?

When he shoots a thug attacking him? Why shouldn't people rebuke the lynch mob?

and as far as the Whiny Minority goes...I was actually referring to the SJWs.

The University Grays sustained a 100% casualty rate flying that battle flag. Removing it shows a grave disrespect to those young men who died at Pickett's charge.
