I agree with a couple of exceptions.
1. If the person is physically handicapped
2. If there’s no cart corrals anywhere near you

Someone already mentioned Aldi but they have the system perfected. I'd be fine with more stores doing things that way.

you leave it in the parking lot because you can’t bring your kids with you to the cart corral probably less than 50 feet or less from where you are standing?

Have to question how the kids got to the cart in the first place.

Does he just ride around until he finds a rogue cart to park next to? Does he leave the kids in the car until he can go get a cart and bring it back?

Now, something like littering is a different story and people should be judged based on that.
Leaving your cart in a parking spot instead of returning is inconvenient to other cars coming after you. If you leave the cart in the return area, someone from the store still walks it back to the grocery store.

I’m sure it’s happened at least once in Florida.

Do you wipe your arse and drop the toilet paper next to the public toilet...? (maybe)

I guess the above line of thinking would make Aldi's shopping cart return experience the equivalent to a bidet.

How did that person push the cart around the store and to their car to begin with? Why is the line drawn at that last step? Presumably the cart is even lighter/easier to push at this point.

Walk it back into the store.

Depends on my situation. If I'm by myself, I most always return. If my youngest kids (2&4) are with me, I don't return it, as I'm not turning my back on my young ones or leaving them unattended while I walk across the way to put a buggy away

This. My 5 year old is autistic and can't be trusted in parking lots or alone. I try very hard to not shop alone with him, but sometimes there's just no choice. On those trips, I don't return the cart. When I'm by myself,I always do. If someone has an issue with that, that's their problem, not mine.

If it's raining cats and dogs, all bets are off.

I prefer the spot right next to the return area. One less potential door-dinging car next to my car

But then you expose yourself to the wannabe Steph Currys of cart returners who try to push it into the corral from 50 feet away.

How was he with you all along during the shopping trip itself? This is what I'm not understanding about you people using the kid excuse. What is inherently different about walking the cart to the corral?

Right. This is why I don't park next to the corral.

In the buggy. I don't take him unless it's unavoidable.

Why would your kid be alone? Are they allergic to the cart corral?

I get that, but then why can't he be in the buggy when you return it to the corral?

I’ve moved a cart behind the car of the person who left it between cars before So it’s your problem again.

Motherfrickin' Cart Narcs holds these POSs accountable. All of the people they call out are terrible people.

The mental gymnastics people go through to not return the cart is pretty amazing

Because I put him in the car immediately because dashing across the parking lot unexpectedly is an issue.

I get that y'all don't get it. That's fine. I'm not gonna change up things I do for safety so random people aren't annoyed with me on the rare occasions I do it this way.
