I strategically park next to the cart return thingy, but if i cannot find a spot to park there, I return the damn thing. while IMBTA, I am still good people.

I enjoy anarchy and chaos, so no, I’m not self-governable and love the chaos it creates in parking lots. Nothing makes my day more than when a person drives into a prime time spot and it’s occupied by a cart and they are faced with the decision to get out and move it or give up on the spot. I personally always park in the very back, and walk, because you’ll spend more time looking for a prime time spot than just walking. Honestly sometimes on my walk to the store. I’ll purposely put a cart oddly close to a corvette, because F vette owners and their 1/1 because it’s blue and has green leather with a burgundy paint. scheme

TBH I bring mine back into the store but that’s because the stores I frequent don’t even have cart return things.

Depends on my situation. If I'm by myself, I most always return. If my youngest kids (2&4) are with me, I don't return it, as I'm not turning my back on my young ones or leaving them unattended while I walk across the way to put a buggy away. I've instructed my wife to do the same, but be aware of her surroundings and leave the buggy if it doesnt feel right.
ETA: I also purposefully park as close as I can to the parking lot cart return area as opposed to the store. This helps to keep the cart return process smooth. If a grocery store is small and doesn’t have a cart return area in the parking lot, my kids and I walk the cart back into the store. It’s common decency.

You have kids now?! Time flies.

Exactly. The kids thing makes no sense to me. Bring them to the cart corral the exact same way you brought them across the parking lot into the store and then throughout the store and then back to the lot.
Do you have kids? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but more for my curiosity, I bet you don't have kids.

I'm shocked that there are a lot of trashy Southerners who don't return their carts. Absolutely shocked.
The same people are tossing their litter out the window as they drive off.

Plenty of people with kids return their cart. Don’t even try.

My Publix has 1 parking lot cart return area in the entirety of the parking lot... They opted for more parking and more cart collection staff.

I have two, and I agree with her. I'm also not a lazy trashy fatass, so walking with my kids a few feet away to return the cart isn't a big deal. I guess your mileage varies.

Fun fact
You are not allowed to put shopping carts in a roll-off dumpster when cleaning up a blighted area that was occupied by zombies err err i mean homeless people.

wow the amount of mental gymnastics you are doing to excuse your shitty behavior is admirable.
rather than have your kids go with you to return the cart you are teaching them that it is okay to leave your shite everywhere. well done.

modern cars have remote start and you can even lock the doors with the remote. Your kids will be safe for the 35 seconds it takes to push it back. You can even look back at them to make sure theyre ok

You want to be right where to tahou is here in this picture. Turn around and push it right in after unloading

I always return my cart but I'm tempted not to just because of this Internet social media nonsense about judging character based on it.
Having customers return their own carts or bag their own groceries is just like hotels "going green" by not changing sheets as often as they once did. It's about cutting expenses, not morality or the environment or whatever.
Now, something like littering is a different story and people should be judged based on that.

Rounding up shopping carts in the parking lot provides gainful employment for people who may not be qualified for anything else.
It comes at the expense of higher prices for those that do return the cart.
In this whole analogy: You are saying higher taxes are fine in order to take care of a job I should be doing anyway.

I prefer the spot right next to the return area. One less potential door-dinging car next to my car
