Best part of getting older is not giving a frick what people think of you. Liberating.

I'm with OP, I don't like most of the things he listed.
I'm just not going to start a thread and go "look at how special I am"

I miss how we used to be a naturally tolerant people. Live and let live. You do you. This new Enforced Tolerance is waaaaaay too intolerant for me.
I laugh when people tell me their opinion of me or what I like. It’s just easier. Yall do what yall want, and I’m happy for yall.
We got family that can’t understand why we’d leave for our group family vacation two days early so we can go to Memphis for a couple of days. “It’s so dangerous!” “I worked there a while, there’s nothing to do!”
Well, what else do I have to do in this shitty South Louisiana town? I’m gonna go have some Gus’s fried chicken(at the original location) and have rendezvous bbq for dinner. See yall in hot springs. Oh, and we’re leaving early so we can make it back to see Jason Isbell in New Orleans. At least I’ll die happy.

Wake me up when the tattoo craze is over
Tattoos are more or less the norm now and they rarely add anything to a person's appearance and make people look like vain try hards.

That mushroom poof haircut teen boys have
Fantasy football and online sports betting (just watch the fricking game)

Comic book super hero movies (movies are mostly shite now. Although TV is way better)
I hated all this shite when I was 18

Yeah, well you are a chick. A beauty object. With an easier path to the life you want( if you are attractive). So it’s perfectly natural that you might want to play video games . A man who is say over the age of 22-23 doesn’t have that luxury because he has no real value other than being successful and that doesn’t happen by playing video games. You were born with value.( that’s not to say you haven’t created as much value elsewhere as any man has- read that twice before lashing out) A young man has to create every Oz of it. Let’s get them outside.

We need to go hunting sometimes. Also very easy to spot the younger posters from the mid 40’s and up crew. Take it easy brother, don’t watch the news, no social media and life will be much more tolerable and in fact enjoyable.. Just enjoy the things you like doing, you won’t see much if that younger generation there.

I'm only in my 40s but I feel like a dinosaur when I talk to anyone younger than 35.
I have a couple two tree more months in my 40s and I agree mostly. However, it does make me appreciate the select younger people I meet/know who have made an effort, and/or have been raised, to learn about and appreciate things outside of their immediate culture lexicon.
I was that kid for sure, including decades when you couldn’t just rabbit hole on YouTube.
There is a lost art to knowing enough to carry on a meaningful conversation with older people and people who know more about a subject than you. Engage. Ask questions. After such a conversation, make an effort to go learn a little about the topics.
We are members of a church with a LOT of younger people. I have found them delightful. So that’s promising. They aren’t necessarily steeped in cultures of yore. But there’s a genuine curiosity and ability to grasp something beyond last Tuesday.
But the blank stares and awkwardness of the general public under 40 these days can definitely be painful. The lack of a sense of humor is the most notable. That should transcend age.
