I guess I’m wondering if these are signs of dementia.

Probably so, our oldest girl, Patches Noel who turns 14 in a couple weeks does the same. She’s just getting old, I know it’s frustrating but it wasn’t until one night that my wife told me our pups go through the same as us when it comes to aging did I really understand. Deep down I knew, I just didn’t want to admit it to myself.

PPA is a common treatment and works very well for this condition if there are no other medical reasons like UTI etc. she probably does have dementia as well being 12.

But it’s an old dog and I accept the fact that his bladder isn’t like it used to be and I’m not happy that he is peeing in the house but the ol baw is probably gonna die soon and I’ll miss bitching about cleaning up the piss.

Mine will turn 15 in three more weeks, and I couldn't have expressed it any better than you did.

My 12 yr old lab has incontinence issues. Vet prescribed two chewables for her a day, once in the morning and afternoon, and she has been better! They aren’t very expensive and have worked well.

I hope for the pup’s sake it’s a UTI. But, if not, I bet meds like what they gave me can help.

Good luck!

Does her urine smell horrible? My dog gets UTIs from time to time. It’s the only time she will go in the house because she has to go so often. The smell is very noticeable. If she isn’t asking to go outside and it smells normal, I would think it is something other than a UTI. Good luck.

Having the same issue with our 18 year old chihuahua he just can't hold it anymore. He has at last 3 or 4 accidents a day. Thank God we have tile throughout the house. I hate to say it but I am getting tired of dealing with it. Other than him urinating on the floor everything else works so I let him live. Damn little shite will probably out live me though
