What a douchebag you nothing about how much time a real teacher puts in after hours, that's not calculated in. You should say I wish my retarded kid had this teacher wanting the best even know he has to much of supposed father in him to make it

I feel bad for agreeing with you since my mom has been a teacher for 35+ years.

Those who can't do, teach.

There's plenty of money; the problems are:

Retards in charge of the spending
Unions

Breaks during the year are like what, 3 months? $35000 / 9 = $3888 $3888 x 12 = $46,667

This logic is fricking stupid.

Does she not eat or pay rent/mortgage for those months?

I have no doubt she comes out of pocket for supplies, but $3k? That's a bit ridiculous.

Over a 180 day school year, spending that much actually doesn't seem ridiculous.

Oh look... The weekly thread where we rag on the people spending the most time with our kids. In this case trying to get them supplied properly.

Carry on.

I coach so my story is different. Sports equipment, uniforms, and meals probably runs me three grand and that's not including various class supplies for my 150 plus students. I just bought three cases of kleenex and 20 bags of cough drops (when the spring hits, I'll actually run out). A kid coughing or continuously snorting a runny nose is aggravating as hell. Additional non-essential school items are spray on deodorant (PE can create some foul BO), eye wash, paper towels, and band aids. As you can see, I haven't mentioned actual school supplies. That being said, these expenses are part of the job. I know what is needed pretty much every year and plan accordingly. People shite on teachers on the regular and that's part of the gig too. Teachers bring some of it on themselves by bitching too much (especially elementary teachers that are female). This chic in Oklahoma, however, was proactive in this situation. Was it a way to "show the plight" of teachers today, probably. She still got some change out of it though. Maybe I out to grab a sign. Nah, I'll just roll with what I've been doing. I enjoy my job, in spite of the additional expenses. Peace peeps.

What a scam. States are spending $10,000+ per student and we keep getting these "Woe is me" stories. Youre telling me they can't layoff someone making 42k per year and cover all school supplies? How about the kids' families pay for the supplies? How about not requiring all manner of bullshite supplies in the first place?

So went to work in the room today, went from this
To this
bow I had to pay for the paint and materials myself. That is almost 300 worth for tape, drop cloth, brushes, pans, and paint. Could I have gone with 1 color and saved money? Sure I could have and saved 100 easy, but I wanted something different.

That is kinda dumb thinking. You live in Prairieville and run a business in the area. Already Ascension schools are crowded, so your idea is to lay off a teacher so teachers go from 20-25 in a class to 25-30???

This is ridiculous. Not to mention the health care costs. My high school chemistry teacher ended up having to cook meth just to get by. Hell, he was working at a car wash in his off time.
