I just don't understand why he stood there and took questions from them. Don't get me wrong, this is a breath of fresh air but he's just legitimizing their behavior by talking to them. He should've just walked in and said "If you're not out by 5am you'll be expelled and arrested" then walked out

I get where you're coming from, but that would just rile them up more and give them ammunition to support their allegations of "oppression."

It was important to show them that the administration respects them enough to have a dialogue and calmly explain the rationale for their decision.

It struck the perfect balance between respect and authoritativeness.

I love that they think because they are having a "peaceful protest" that gives carte blanche to do whatever they want.

That's what they didn't understand. It wasn't a "peaceful protest." A lawful and peaceful protest doesn't involve the breaking of any laws. It's engaging in your right to free speech while not infringing on the rights of others.

What they were engaging in was civil disobedience, which is related to - but vastly different from - a peaceful protest. In this case, they were trespassing and disrupting the business of whoever worked in that building. Civil disobedience means there may be consequences for your actions.

This is the importance of a good civics education folks.

People are saying "if only mizzou had handled it this way"...We really don't know how different the situation would have been if half the Ohio state football team was in there. Would the school expel a bunch of athletes on scholarship. I doubt it. But i would love to see it happen.

Bingo

once the 2 idiot players got the team to buy into their bullshite, the University was fricked.

It's easy to act tough, when ur bread and butter(footbal lteam) isnt promoting this.

But rack tOSU, finally some one told them to frick off. Bama let them run their mouths and did nothing with their list of demands, same wit others, now its MIss st time.

Love that 70% of the people are fat, ugly, white, and liberals. What a piece of shite they are.
