Hilarious considering it's a slang term for a white cajun person. NAACP is reaching real bad on this one.

Yeah I had a family member (I am from out of state) challenge me on this. I was telling them it’s literally a slur for an ethnically white Group.

Not exactly

NO, it’s really not, and just because you say it is doesn’t make it so. You’re just fricking idiots who want to be butt hurt, that’s all. I’m half coonass, and it doesn’t bother me one bit. I don’t know one Cajun or half Cajun or non Cajun Louisianian who’s put off by the term Coonass.

Who does he need to apologize to?

I’d quote that lady’s drivel and respond with, STFU Karen!

Did those idiots ever research the origin? It has zero to do with black people. They don't get to steal that word just because it has "coon" in it.

Can you read coon arse? He grew up in Houston and his parents live in Louisiana.

Anderson Township Trustee Andrew Pappas on Thursday posted a picture of a boudin, a southern type of sausage. His parents, who live in Louisiana, sent it to him, prompting the Thursday night post.

"Kroger shmoger. Look what mom and pop just shipped up from the great state of Louisiana!!!!!! Those coon asses sure do know how to eat."

Racist!

quote:

But it's also a racial slur.

"I posted it and then walked into the living room, but then thought people in Ohio won’t understand the term and I changed it to Cajun," Pappas said. "It was probably on my page for two minutes. It's not a derogatory term. I am not racist. It’s a regional term."

Actually, half coon arse and half red neck to be exact, which leaves me with a bad case of the red arse.

There was a guy near me at the texas LSU baseball last year screaming that as a derogatory term at our guys the entire game. Was really weird to see as A) it’s supposed to be a diss. And B) that like half our team is from out of state.

Louisiana needs to show up on their Facebook page to educate. I don't particularly care for the word but it's not a damn racist against black people word.

Back in Rush Limbaugh’s early radio days, a caller from LA started the call by saying “coonass dittos”. Rush immediately took him off the air but continued to talk to the guy to find out what he said and what it meant. Rush explained to the audience what it meant and put the guy back on the air to finish his call.

That was close to 30 years ago.
