Ticket prices started escalating for middle and lower tier stuff when music became free.

Hell it's $25 to see some shite local bands now at a crappy venue

Quit being an a-hole… this right here shows why some people should not be allowed to publish their opinions.

Man, I tied to get tickets to G&R in Biloxi to take my daughter and couldn't find anything for under $150. It was insane.

I knew this kind of shite was coming. Bought 4 for KC back in July; sold two, cleared two grand.

Had the Swiss MIL register and win for next year's Zurich concert-the trip, tickets, and time with MIL paid for by this year's profit. So Taylor Swift profits are going to pay to send my daughters to Europe to visit Grandma, and give us a nice summer break at home.

You don't have to let the crazy economics of the Taylor Swift craze work against you-- they can work in your favor.

I have bought through Verified Fan/registered presale for other artists many times and have never sold my tickets. I wonder if I get a different weight in the lottery than others, if they can be fairly certain that my tickets won't hit resale?

Actually it's the opposite. When you buy tickets from TicketMaster, they make money by charging you a fee on your face value ticket. If you go to the concert, that is the end of the money train for Ticketmaster.

If you resale your tickets, which is usually through Ticketmaster's resale platform, they charge the new buyer a higher fee because the tickets are selling for a higher price. So now they have made fees off of two buyers. Every time a ticket gets resold on their site, they make more money. Ticketmaster would love for a ticket to change hands as many times as possible.

Now you know why Ticketmaster has zero desire to get the tickets in the hands of "real fans" and would rather scalpers get the tickets.

Here is an article on: TicketMaster colluding with scalpers

Economy is doing pretty good if poor arse Louisiana folks are dropping 1700 for concert tickets

They don’t cost this much, that’s how much people who bought a $50 ticket for are scalping them at.

Ticketmaster prices for Eras Tour tickets in Kansas City ranged from $49 to $499, according to the Kansas City Star.

In Kansas City, resale tickets cost anywhere from $1,700-$13,000

All the ticketmaster fees are excessive, too.

$80 tickets become $120, after fees.

makes sense I guess if you listen to alot of today's pop music

I don't really, I think most of today's pop music sucks. However, I think indie and alternative music nowadays is better than ever, and I say that as someone who is a 60s/70s music truther. Prime example of this is Tame Impala, who has made some of my favorite songs and albums and all of that has come out in the last 13 years.

This whole situation including the fees aspect is why I haven't been to a real concert in probably 10 years.

Wife just texted that some of our family who lives 2000 miles away got a pre-sale code and they are coming in town and offered for my wife and daughter to go. No problem with face value such as this, but I would have had issues if they had wanted to pay the crazy prices.

If that would have come up, we would be negotiating that I would get to go to the Masters as a tradeoff.
