I'm assuming it was going 450 kts or somewhere around that.
If the pilots were alive when it crashed then it would've been a belly landing unless something extreme happened. But if they weren't, it was probably a pretty hard collision with the water.

there is no way in hell they just ignored a phantom radar return, they shot it down and will never admit to it.

no wide body jet has ever had a successful belly landing on water.
So in either instance I would expect to see peices rather than a floating jet.
Malaysia probably shot it down or something crazy happened. The PIC, just seemed like a pilot's pilot and a good person but it's hard to judge character from online accounts.
