There are some extremely well-informed, intelligent people on here.
We also have mouth-breathing, knuckle dragging retards.
It's a great microcosm of humanity. Having it all just be egg-brained, rational discourse wouldn't be nearly as fun.

For sure. Not everyone is crazy or extreme here. But because our upvote/downvote system doesn't sort the comments like it does on Reddit, an extreme take can be at the top of a page. I'm personally fine with that, but I can see why it may get us into trouble at times.
Also, people just don't really understand nuance. Most of us roll our eyes at ridiculous takes and keep scrolling. Outsiders see that and think it is the general group think.
