Entrepreneurs in Baton Rouge are known for getting into very nasty business disputes and unfortunately there isn't enough time to file suit in civil court to resolve them.

So pardon me for being an outsider to all this, but what is the difference between these two communities that leads to such staggering differences? I mean they share a common border right?

Obviously racism must be some sort of crime deterrent

At 8:30 in the morning. They must have messed up his order at Starbucks.

What is the murder total for the year for all of BR? Gotta be close to the record. But 2017 (I think?) will be hard to top.

For the entire parish, 70 people have been killed this year.

2017 saw 101 murders.

2018 saw 86 murders.

We will probably either tie or eclipse the 2018 number this year. The streets seem to be extra hot so far in the fourth quarter.

2017 was just absolutely insane.

If we can’t legalize sports betting can we at least legalize crime betting? The politicians should be on board since they are all criminals too.

Some of the numbers from the early to mid 90’s were really bad too

If the police didn't carry tourniquets and have pretty advanced first aid training, Baton Rouge would be at 125 right now. They actually track this data and its public record.

I think shootings are actually up even though murders are slightly down.

My permanent bet over the next year is $100 nightly on whatever the odds are for this....eventually I have to win.

They sent several BRPD officers through EMT training with the Fire Department. The police are keeping people alive today that would absolutely have been dead five years ago.

I wish they could be a little more selective when it comes to gunshot victims.

Kid? Save.

Chick? Save

Elderly? Save

Gangbanger? Let bleed out

Just imagine how safe StG would be if they got BRPD coverage, too!

If Broome cuts the BRPD budget like her scare tactics indicate, St. George will have a lot of BRPD patrolling it, just they'll be former BRPD officers wearing green and will have a new boss named Sid Gautreaux.

Just curious, doesn't BRPD have a union? Seems like I remember reading EBRSO is non-union. Will there be some scare tactics involved?

Correct. BRPD has a union. EBRSO does not.

I do not know how firing unionized government employees works, but from what I've heard, there are a lot of BRPD looking to leave that cesspool anyway and the incorporation of St. George may be the catalyst that will push them to make the move before they're on the chopping block.

BRPD has some great officers. Unfortunately, their leadership is awful.

From the information released by St. George, it seems as if EBRSO has nothing to lose from its incorporation. At worst, they continue what they've always done. At best, they receive extra funding from St. George to increase patrols.

That’s correct. Non fatal shootings are way up this year while homicides are down. However, they seem to becoming more proficient. There were 16 homicides that occurred in November. While the year end homicide total will most likely be lower, I’d imagine that the total shooting incidents (fatal and non fatal) are up.

If the criminal element ever learns to function a shotgun the body count will be staggering. However, at this point evolution has not enabled this transition.
