NWS Birmingham has pulled the winter weather advisory much further south. The winter storm warning in north Alabama has been expanded some, too.

If this holds up, how will this event compare to the last event?
What was the last event. I haven't lived in Br in a while. The timing is set better than the totals right now. The 18z runs dialed back ice totals for Br after trending up for the last day. But they'll stay volatile.
Chance for freezing rain in Br from late afternoon Monday to sunrise Tuesday. Timing is more important anyways. But it's impossible to pin down totals for these deep south events even this close to it.

Trees, power outages?
South La had a pretty good dead tree purge in 2020 and 2021 with Laura and Ida. I don't think tree damage will be too bad thanks to that. But a wild card is the drought and how that impacted trees.

Make sure that your tires are properly equipped for the weather...

Don’t ever listen to the weather channel or any meteorologist. They were calling for the shite to start after 3.

In Memphis?
Yep. You've got a solid chance for snow (on/off) from now til about noon-2pm tomorrow. LINK
On the phone with her now, looking at the traffic map and cameras to help her get to her office. The interstates look fairly good but some of the surface streets seem to be iffy (and they really need to revisit the overpass lanes at 240/40).

The Winter Storm Warning from NWS Huntsville now has the range from 2-6" (continues to go up for the top-end) of snow. Calls for some accumulation of sleet/freezing rain, around a tenth of an inch.

Traffic cam site for Memphis
There are a few sites, they all pull from the DOTD cameras though, and they are all still shots taken at some unknown refresh rate.

@NWSHuntsville
It isn't often that we get a slow build Winter weather event. This one will last the better part of two days.

Snow & Ice:
Snow Totals have increased slightly in NW AL to highest values just over 6".
Ice accumulations in our SE counties have also increased with areas looking to see 0.1-0.15' Monday evening into Tuesday night.

Problem is gonna be the rain right before the freezing temps in BR. Last update I saw had it raining right up until it gets below freezing, and maybe a little after.
If that happens the New Bridge will be shut down because of ice build up on the over the road structures, and I10 traffic will be diverted to hwy190(Old Bridge) that doesn’t have the over the road structures to build up with ice. They will sand the Old Bridge.
With all of the bridges we have in the area even a small amount of rain before the freeze will shut down the area.
