I have sources inside of a state-level office saying Governor Edwards will announce later this afternoon that schools will be closed til April 13.

McNeese moving to online classes starting Wednesday.

quote:

Out of an abundance of caution, McNeese will immediately move to modified operations. Face-to-face course delivery will transition to remote delivery, including online format effective Wednesday, March 18. We may continue this through the end of the spring semester.

The University will remain open with modified operations in some areas. Faculty and staff are expected to continue to work normal hours. With classes going online, student workers should discuss the possibility of modifying work schedules where possible.

Residence halls will remain open, Holbrook Computer Lab, Frazar Library and Rowdy’s Cafeteria will continue normal operating hours.

I heard some districts are trying to hold off on closing until next Tuesday due to ACT tests

This is correct. That's why I think an executive order will come. They're shutting them down. It's 100%. The problem is that many schools are slated to give the ACT Tuesday. They need them taken for School Scores to be valid.

McNeese was the one holdout. You can shut everything down now, Churches need to be discussed next.

When we had the flood in 2016, schools were given a pardon on the missed minutes. I'm sure it'll be similar to that if it does happen.

One of my wife's employees had to leave work because her kid's school was shut down. Apparently one of the other kids was exposed to someone with the virus. Waldorf school.

How are you supposed to work and watch your kids at the same time?

1) it puts a strain on healthcare since the majority of nurses and healthcare workers are also parents
They're providing free childcare for children of medical workers and first responders here. Don't know if that's something LA is going to do.

They make plans and have been for years. They have camps and social activities. Summer is expected.

Suddenly quarantining the entire population into their homes for a month is vastly different than summer break. You don’t understand that?

Most people don't have a plan for month-long childcare like they do in the summer. Especially with the semi-quarantine nature of this event.
