Why would Tuscaloosa PD handle the affairs of a mid-sized independent city? That’s like asking if Jackson PD should handle Clinton, MS.

When did it become so bad? I went to the LSU games in 07,09 and 11 and never once felt unsafe walking around downtown/the strip.
There is an occasional incident near the downtown bars. But the overwhelming majority of violence is in West Tuscaloosa. It's not likely you would have ever ventured that way on your visits.

Can you translate that into coonass?
i.e. What side of town is it on?

Durham, NC is a bad city?
Very, despite its proximity to Chapel Hill, which is a great town.

Yes. That Duke lacrosse incident didn't come out of nowhere.

Over on the east side I do believe. It’s not where this shooting happened. It’s on the other side of town from it.

The west side is bad. But there are incidents at off campus student apts, the Strip, and not too long ago a person was killed while driving down Skyland and shooting out of the car they were riding in.

Tuscaloosa can't handle that? Does half the population not work or go to school in Tuscaloosa?
Why not Annex them?
Probably because Northport has absolutely no interest in being annexed into Tuscaloosa. Northport has been its own incorporated city since the 1870's, so it's not like it's a new suburb or something. Though it did have a "white flight" population boom in the 60's and 70's.
Why doesn't Auburn annex Opelika, or vice versa? It's basically the same dynamic.

Man that is sad. Might have gotten a few years and now he had ruined his life. He killed a man, ruined that mans kids lives, his fiancée’s life all for a fricking FTA. I hope they fry his arse.

Maddox needs to GTFO. His kid glove handling of Tuscaloosa’s miscreants has led to this horseshite.

How so? I don't live in Tuscaloosa and don't follow its politics all that closely, but what specifically has Maddox done that caused this? By many accounts, crime is down in Tuscaloosa. I don't know if that's true, but it is across society.

Awful.
Hope the SOB who did this pays the ultimate price.

dook is actually doing a decent job of cleaning up the area around its university, and downtown Durham is improving. But go a bit east and things go to shite pretty quickly.
