Most artists run out of good material after an album or two.
after they get their big "retirement" record, typically when they lose their hunger their creative juices begin to dry up, I'm sure there's also pressure from the record company to "write hits"

I think Paul McCartney would have been interesting as he got older

Buddy Holly
He was so far ahead of his time and influenced the giants of the music world. There's no telling where his career would've gone, especially if he'd followed a similar arc to a band like The Beatles who made such a hard shift to experimentation in the psychedelic era the mid to late 60's.

Buddy Holly would have been interesting. After reading more about him he really seemed like the type to become an innovator

I don’t think he has a liver anymore. He must have some weird mutation where his body doesn’t need one.

I would love to hear Hank Williams sing “there’s a queer on my beer..” a couple years ago.

I wonder what stories Harry Chapin would have told us.

But which Paul McCartney?

I saw a lot of people saying 'more music' and while I don't think Freddie Mercury needed more music, seeing him command a stage and perform is something I wish I could have seen in person. Same with Michael Jackson. Wish I could have seen 80s MJ perform.
