I understand what you’re saying and I understand cost-of-living in NFL towns is much higher. But we’re kind of arguing semantics. The ultimate fact is if you have a 10 year NFL career and end up broke or bankrupt, you have made some incredibly poor life choices.

I don't think a single person is arguing otherwise.

I'm not talking about taxes or agent fees. That headline number you see when it says Player X signs with the Cowboys for 6 years and 90M? Yeah there's like a 95% chance the cowboys aren't paying the full 90M. Might not even pay close to that amount.
Most of the headline player contracts are fully guaranteed or close to it now

I suppose it’s my fault, but I still can’t understand how so many people around here just can’t read past an elementary level

Mingo in here thinking he is 6 feet tall because he knows taxes and agent fees

Everyone knows that Mingo. Your bookkeeping career doesn’t give you all this insight

Zero sympathy. $100 million. You could set aside $5 million in a safe index fund and then go ham with the $95 million with wild parties, real estate, risky investments, cars, and jewelry. You might become a billionaire or lose it all. Then have the $5 million fall back to enjoy a life luxury and ease forever.

I disagree

Maybe for the very top end qbs, but even then, not really.

Chase's new deal, which made him the highest paid WR wasn't even 50% guaranteed as signing.

Josh Allen's 330M deal was only 45% guaranteed at signing.

Mahomes monster 10 year deal was only 14% guaranteed at signing.

Dak's is close to fully guaranteed and there's a couple of other qbs that are like 80%+ guaranteed, but most aren't and the guarantee percentage plummet when you get to skill position players.

Deshaun Watson though? That baw got 230M. FULLY GUARANTEED.

For RBs it seems kinda all over the place. Some guys have a big headline number and sub 50% guarantee whereas a few guys have a lower headline but are close to, if not fully guaranteed. RB contracts are also a little different as many of them are relatively short (3 years or less).

I'm an old school New York Giants fan, and I've never liked this dude. Tremendously talented player but he always struck me as a narcissistic knucklehead. I think the franchise started heading downhill when the team accepted his attitude as part of the new-school culture. Now here he is, 10-15 years later, complaining about making hundreds of millions of dollars? GTFOH, you entitled a-hole. He says "you always hear the people who ain't us, and ain't been in the position, oh that would last a lifetime..." Yeah, it should last a lifetime because it's enough money for several lifetimes. It's not a reflection on regular people that you're stupid enough to piss away generational wealth.

You’ve gotta go about your business like you’re broke until you’re at least 30. The money belongs to future you that played out that contract, not present you that hasn’t done shite.

You can tell he's not one to give surprise gifts to people who don't expect them.
Just contact a local church and find the name of a family or three on hard times and make their Christmas. Don't boast about it, do it anonymously and smile to yourself.
His attitude should be shouted from the roof tops so that all can know just what an excuse for an air breather he is.

I thought he did a contract where he got paid in bitcoin ? When that happened, bitcoin wasn’t worth that much. But over time it went up a bunch. He should have a lot more money.

First of all it’s only $50 million after taxes. Your point is still a good one.

How many contracts did he have?
