Is it their only location? Or does Ochsner encompass a lot of locations?

It is, by far, the largest medical system in the state and one of the largest in the country.

40 hospitals/specialty hospitals
Over 100 clinics
Over 25,000 employees

It's the second-largest private employer in the state.

I wonder how far off they are from sending all non-COVID patients to Baptist and making Main Campus COVID center.

They have got to be a full capacity already.

My dad had congestive heart failure this summer and had to be rushed to Ochsner at 12 midnight on a weekend and his cardiologist works out the main campus and they brought him to Kenner because the mains ICU was full

Exactly my point. He doesn’t specify it’s the one location but OP has it in the thread title.

I'd be shocked if 95% of them are not at Main Campus.

So far, Ochsner hospitals in Baton Rouge and Lafayette haven't had a huge influx of patients.

This is the result of the shortage of personal protective gear.

I wonder how many of the cases at the main campus in Jefferson Parish are patients from other parishes and NOLA is getting the credit for them?

Not sure about Lafayette but Ochsner has a pretty small footprint in BR from an inpatient bed standpoint.

re: Ochsner In NOLA has announced that 50 employees have tested positive for COVID-19
Jeff hwy has a lot to be sure but it's not 95 percent. Other icu's in New Orleans are overflowing as well with nothing but covid patients on ventilators in ARDS.

Never happened with the seasonal flu outbreaks.....

Maybe from St. Charles and St. Bernard, but Jefferson and Orleans have 2/3 of the cases anyway.

The op tried to make it sound like this was at one location and it was an outbreak. That is not true.

True. OLOL has the highest ICU capacity in BR with Ochsner and the General at 2/3.

Ochsner now owns Lafayette General. Not sure between them and Lourdes who has more ICU space.

A lot less cases in the region regardless.

I work for Ochsner and am on quarantine. The only way to get quarantined as far as I know is to have symptoms. Still waiting on results. Pretty sure it's not a lack of PPE but people being exposed many weeks ago.

re: Ochsner In NOLA has announced that 50 employees have tested positive for COVID-19
You have to remember that these people are constantly getting health checks every day they come into work. Not all of them got it at once. Not all of them at the same location. And not all of them from where they work. Ochsner employs thousands and thousands of people. It’s a non-story in terms of numbers. It’s just that people are making news of the system moving nurses to help while these are quarantined. This shouldn’t be shocking to anyone.

Not sure if the WGNO Article I read said it was all from the Hospital. The CEO mentioned it was from all over the system. Thousands and thousands of employers.

Ochsner is the largest employer in the state.

Entergy is up there too. They employ almost 15k. If 26 employees got it over the Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi regions, no one would bat an eye.

Actually they are not, they just opened up 100 beds today. They are doing those trials and getting patients off the vents and keeping others from getting on them.

Ochsner doesn't operate any hospital in New Orleans.

re: Ochsner In NOLA has announced that 50 employees have tested positive for COVID-19
Why are they getting the most COVID-19 patients? Hasn't UMC taken over Charity's role in the city?
Might be a function of the number of available beds, but I thought UMC was pretty huge.
