O&G guys, any rumors that Shell has a record well at Appomattox?

Had someone tell me they brought in a well that is producing 56K per day. That would put it well ahead of the previous GOM record of around 42K bopd. Thinking its BS though because that would likely make the news.

Makes sense they showed lukewarm resistance and acquiesced to being exploited by Yankee capitalists.

Only bad news makes the news.

Good news is bad for business

Is this something that is really recent?
The Appo wells have been somewhat disappointing over the last 6 months with the new ones.

Not the best time to bring a record well on stream.

I heard it awhile back, a couple weeks, so I would figure it was recent.

I know their new find over in the western GOM is supposed to be pretty significant. Didn't think the vicksburg, appomattox stuff was anything special.

General Grant would disagree with you.

Yeah just what the oil market needs - more production.

They were supposed to be great fields, but nothing especially significant yet. Of course that could be related to drilling issues and flow rate problems though.
It’s still a pretty promising area though

We start our rig flowback tomorrow morning, 14800 SITP, hoping to see north of 10k however we have had hell with the completion.

Keeping fingers crossed.

What some of the bigger IP rates you have heard in recent years? When I was at SLB we had some APC Lucius wells come in at around 25-30k.

Appomattox is supposed to be a record-breaking name-plate production platform for that reason, the find was yuge. Lotta gas content to so itll flow for a long arse time.

Edit: Nvm, 175,000 bo/pd. It is the "largest" overall platform. But I know thunder horse is still rated for 200k

I know they have 2 drill ships right next to Appomattox drilling right now. I fished them last weekend.

Appomattox is a pretty impressive rig.
